In our last report the Kiwi Rider subs promo Yamaha WR250R received a power increase through a horn-looking GYTR muffl er and had its tail tidied via the sleek GYTR Off-Road Number Plate Holder. This month its morphed into what can only be described as a Supertrail bling-mobile!

Assorted accoutrements of blue ano-dized GYTR hardware add both protection advantages and visual impact. The GYTR caliper and discs guards provide added protection from stray rocks when fanging it hard on the gravel roads, whilst most importantly the GYTR Alloy Sump Guard, which weighs next-to-nothing, delivers indestructible protection for the engine sump, cases and all important water-pump housing.

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION

Damaging a water-pump mid adventure is a sure fi re way to kill your buzz, and perhaps the next most vulnerable piece of vital motorcycle appendage is the rear brake lever. Over the years we’ve seen countless levers bent into useless shapes or snap right off either through river cross-ings or scaling rocky Southland sheep tracks turning the rider’s adventure experi-ence into havoc.

The simplest method of protection comes in the form of a GYTR brake snake. This simple lightweight contraption saves your brake lever from bending excessively, or worse, snapping off. TRICK SUMP PLUG

Hot looking it may be, but the GYTR Sump Plug is not just there for looks. It’s main job is to magnetise and retain all fl oating metal-lic fl akes that usually come from a wearing clutch which would have otherwise tried stifl ing your engine’s oil ports and pumps. Finally, for visual aesthetics to match the rest of you GYTR WR bolt-ons there is the blue anodized timing plugs, oil fi ll cap and rear chain guide, as well as a pair of trick rear axle blocks.

Right about now you’re probably think-ing the WR250R weighs another couple of kilograms with all the replacement GYTR parts. Prior to bolting on the latest ship-ment of GYTR parts from Yamaha NZ the WR250R weighed in at 130kg; post GYTR bolt-on phase KR’s high tech bike scales barely blinked at 130.5kg, a sublime out-come considering just how much protec-tion that alloy sump guard provides.
