patron's forewordAssalamualaikum Warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and Salam Sejahtera,

It is with great pleasure I present to you the Kelab UMNO Australia Melbourne (KUAM) publication of its Annual Report for the term 2012/2013. This annual report provides the summary of the events organised by KUAM that was held during the stated term, which is from October 2012 up till October 2013.

I am pleased with the accomplishments achieved by KUAM throughout the past term in regards to organising various events and community-building initiatives on top of uniting the Malaysian in Melbourne. 2013 kicked off brightly with the launching of Dagang Melbourne and Perantau Melbourne, both very informative portal and tools for Malaysian students to familiarize themselves with the living conditions needed to thrive and succeed in Melbourne. March was a busy month with various activities successfully managed by KUAM including the Tun Abdul Razak Fundraising Programme, Malaysian Welcoming BBQ and the highly anticipated UMNO Cup Melbourne. The following month saw the success of our Malaysian Virtual Games Championship Melbourne (MVGC) aimed at our bright and tech savvy students to compete in the virtual world. Our annual Muzika event was held in May. This highly awaited event of celebrating our talented musicians and artist was a huge success and is seen to be the highlight of our yearly events by the students. All fun and games aside, Kuliah Mega Melbourne followed through the month after, giving students the chance to immerse themselves spiritually while increasing their morale of living far away from home. Food for the soul some might say. During the month of July, KUAM successfully organized Kreativa Melbourne. August and September came the long stretch of hectic and huge events starting from the Malaysian Speakers’ Corner Melbourne to educate students with a more hands on approach giving the chance for both speakers and students to share ideas and stories. Mega Raya Melbourne followed straight after to celebrate our togetherness kinship in the spirit of Syawal. Ultimately, the final event was KUAM’s Grand Rendezvous of Malaysians (GOAL) that boasted three important events of the calendar. That includes Spring Cup Melbourne, Seminar Pembangunan Insan (SPI) and Malam Gemilang Melbourne, all in which gives the chance to students to participate and be involved with curricular, co-curricular and social activities.

With the words of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj “...the idea of sending them (students) abroad to study is not only to be academically qualified, for that they can obtain here, but to broaden their outlook”, I am very pleased to be apart of KUAM which have helped foster and nurture the student life here in Melbourne. They have tirelessly devoted their time and efforts to cater the needs of Malaysian students abroad here while giving them a sense of family.

Thank you to the corporate sponsors for your generous support in investing in Malaysia’s young promising future leaders, enabling the success of the events organised by KUAM each year. Without your continuous support, KUAM’s motto that

president's forewordAssalamualaikum Warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and Salam Sejahtera,

On behalf of Kelab UMNO Australia Melbourne (KUAM), it is with great honour that I present to you KUAM’s Annual Report for the year 2012/2013. This report provides a comprehensive summary of the many activities carried out by KUAM this year. Already in its 26th year, KUAM continues to grow as a platform for student activism and this is evident with the expansion of existing as well as new projects under our various bureaus.

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our deepest gratitude to all the sponsors of KUAM for without your ongoing support, commitments and contributions, many of our events would not have been possible. I would also like to thank the 2013 committee for their hard work and tireless efforts in realizing our innumerous events over the past year. Your generous contributions have helped make KUAM’s vision of catering for the needs of Malaysians in Melbourne a reality. I believe that it has truly been a great and enriching year for both myself and as well as the committee and we have a lot to be proud of.

As you read through this Annual Report, I hope that one thing strikes you - the sheer range and diversity of events that have been organized by KUAM as well as the successes that have been achieved in the last term. This year, many of KUAM’s projects and programmes have undergone changes and improvements so as to reflect, respond and cater for the growing needs of Malaysian. This can be reflected in KUAM’s pilot events which includes the 1st Kuliah Mega Melbourne as well as the 1st National Aspiration & Leadership Symposium (NALS). Notwithstanding this is also KUAM’s further commitment in maintaining signature events with greater successes, namely the 7th Seminar Pembangunan Insan (SPI) Melbourne, 14h Malam Gemilang Melbourne and 7th Spring Cup Melbourne which when taken collectively has been rebranded under one banner: the Grand Rendezvous of Malaysian (GOAL).

In upholding KUAM’s principle of ethical and accountable leadership, the organization has also employed a unique approach which required every committee members to lead in at least one of KUAM’s initiatives. In other words, this strategy was a serious attempt in nurturing leadership qualities amongst KUAM’s committee and I can proudly say that it has been a remarkable success. In fact during our Annual General Meeting (AGM) recently, we have received the most number of returning committee members in the history of KUAM to compete as the future committee, reflecting their increased confidence and nurtured leadership capabilities as a result of their past involvement with KUAM.

I am sure that upon reading this report, you will join me in celebrating the achievements of KUAM. I believe that KUAM will continue to grow in the future. It has truly been an honour to be able to serve KUAM and the country. Thank you.

Nurturing & Inspiring future leaders through unity.

kuamakan stall - fiesta malaysia melbourne 201316th MARCH 2013

Annually, MASCA Victoria (Malaysian Students’ Council of Australia) would conduct an event particularly to convoke Malaysians in Melbourne and around the vicinity with food stalls manned by small and known businesses and also traditional, ancestral games and performances that would array our proud aboriginal cultural behaviour to the community. This celebration is called Fiesta Malaysia 2013, held at the famous Federation Square.

Two weeks before 16th of March 2013, our committee members, Ahmad Amir Fikri and Zafirah Najmuddin volunteered themselves to plan and execute the arrangement selling authentic Malaysian cuisine such as Nasi Lemak with Ayam Berempah, Beef Rendang, Cucur Udang, Onde-Onde and Ribena Lychee. There were other stalls from multiple organizations as well such as EHSAN, MASCA Victoria and RUMA though everyone was said to be under one consortium, MASCA, for safety operation concerns. This was led by Sarrah Allia Sharul Amin, the Chief Executive Officer of Fiesta Malaysia 2013.

People started gathering and lining up at our stall named KUAMakan, at around 11.30am, appetized by the smell and look of the palatable dishes displayed under the Bain Marie. Our president, Syahir Zaini, advisor, Alia Zaba and other KUAM members, Abdul Aziz, Majid Nazli, Amir Izzuwan, Wan Abdul Kamaruddin, Rizal Shamsudin, Aiman Haziq and Wan Nur Syaira ended up participating, giving a helping hand along the whole operation. The sales went well, exceeding expectations, an ace denouement for the hard work given by everyone.

malaysian speakers' corner (MSC) Melbourne 201331st AUGUST 2013

Malaysian Speaker’s Corner (MSC) was first introduced in 2012. It promotes freedom of expression whereby Malaysian students are given the opportunity to give speech through public speaking and debate.

MSC’s believes that in the current climate of political disengagement, reasserting the importance of citizens’ rights, which we take for granted, has become a pressing priority. This is an urgent need to promote open discussion and debate in a way, which involves communities as well as politicians and enable citizens to express their view and strengthen their influence on the decision making process.

AKHIRNYA MERAH

Akhirnya merah

Akhirnya merah

Kalau bersama buat perkaraBiar yang bersama kita utamaBukan kerna mana pangkalnyaUntuk menjaga maruahnya nama
