Where and why• Native to China/Japan

• Introduced to U.S in 1800’s

• Introduced to the south for erosion control

How is Kudzu a pest?

• Hard to prevent

• Covers telephone poles, decks, etc.

• Grows quickly: about 1 foot a day!

• Spreads over just about anything.
