KUHN - Vario resistorThe KUHN KVR Vario resistor is a pneumatic pack-pressure press forthe increasing of the dry solids content (DS) of the screenings atestablished or new screenings wash presses.

ApplianceThis flangeable additional module is built into the common

press piping and serves the increasing of the dry solidscontent in the screenings using pneumatic back-

pressure (in which the back-pressure can be raisedeither manually/statically with an air-pump or

through magnet valves and a compressor viacompressed air of about 3-5 bar).

Operating modeThe dry solids content in the screenings canbelatedly be increased through the application

of the KVR to about 5% - 10% (in individualcases up to 15% and higher) (depending on

possible draining, fat content, capability of the pressetc.). The construction of the KVR is low-wear with a

long durability, without mechanical fittings, which canhinder the transportation procedure of the pipeline at distur-

bance or breakdown. Temporarily it is possible toalmost entirelyreduce with the KVR that resulting back pressure in the pipelinethrough decompression to the mere frictional loss to abolish apossible blocking inside of the pipeline – even without its

demounting.

The KUHN KVR Vario resistor can further increase the known asreliable and high dewatering capacity of the KUHN washpressKWP. The back pressure can flexibly be adjusted to the case ofoperation.

With the KVR it is possible to dewater to nearly technical / physicalboundary. The dewatering barrier is defined by the type of the

screenings as well as the capability of the particular Wash Press. TheKVR can also be attached brand-independent.

The partial automated version controls the motor current of the washpress and relieves the back pressure at achievement of a compressionbarrier. The back pressure dropped down, the motor currentdecreases. After achievement of a lower maximum load or a presettime the back pressure is being increased accordingly. Therefore the“feasible” is achieved. For realization of this type of control howeveran intervention into the switching and control system is necessary.

Design (Technical characteristics)• The resistor has a convincing simple function

• DS content of 45 – 60% constantly achievable (depending on efficiency of the wash press)

• Volume, weight and cost reduction up to 80%

• At existing plants make-independent problem-free retrofit

• Maximum DS content recovery at excellent cost/performance ratio

• Erosion proof and long term rugged

• No mechanical parts inside the pipeline necessary

• Also applicable at potentially explosive atmosphere

• With manometer for visual function control

• Half-automated, for avoidance of overcharge/blockage inside of the pipeline

• With automated operation return to the press normal mode

Dimensions in mm.
