CHANGES made to the Numurkah golf croquet social days has resulted in some ex-tremely close aggregate scores being record-ed, and last Tuesday’s results were a true testament to that.
Players now change partners each game, and nish when a team reaches seven hoops.
Glenys Londey won last week’s competi-tion with three wins and 21 hoops, followed closely by equal runners-up Lyn Hughes and Kevin Hansen, who both nished with just two wins, but 20 hoops each.
Another four players, Rhonda Geddes, Gordon Brown, Kirsten Strike and Graham Tyack, also won two games and were just one further hoop behind, on 19.
Lyn Hughes and Kirsten Strike both had a hoop-in-one, but were outscored by Fay Shannon, who had two.
It was ladies’ day for jump shots, Dot Stor-er and Rhonda Geddes both playing well to score two.
e weather was perfect for last Wednes-day’s association pennant game, but that didn’t help the Numurkah team in its match against Rich River.
Louise Vale played a great singles game, pegging out and winning 26-9, while Lea Grant also had a big win, 21-9.
A very close loss in a doubles match proved costly for Numurkah, going down 12-13. Had the scores been reversed, Nu-murkah would have won the match, but Rich River took victory 4/73 to 2/78.
Both golf croquet pennant teams came home victorious last ursday.
Playing at home to Kyabram, Numurk-ah White had a very close match, winning 6/68 to 6/63.
Ian Londey ew the ag for Numurkah, winning three games, and only losing his last double 6-7.
Numurkah Blue was down three games to ve a er the singles games at Echuca, but turned the tables in the doubles, winning all four to take victory 7/72 to 5/59.
David Geddes had another great day, winning all four games and breaking his handicap, while substitute, Joan T. Hansen, played very well in both doubles, winning 7-6 and 7-3.
Numurkah Blue has the bye in pennant this week, while White will travel to Moama tomorrow to play the Rich River Kangas.
e association pennant team will play at home against Mooroopna today.
Croquet changes close things up
