Selection Process
To select a HRMS we have:
• Had initial demonstrations from <<x>> suppliers• Had further demonstrations of key areas• Provided a list of key requirements to the suppliers• Compared their responses and scored them• Taken up 2 reference sites with each supplier• It have confirmed their preference for technology fit• Checked the supplier’s financial status• Challenged the supplier with key questions*

Challenging the Suppliers
Although we have provided a list of requirements we have also challenged each supplier to show, in demonstrations, the following:• Do you provide pro active features such as dashboards?• Can we set up our company hierarchy?• Are organisational charts built in?• Can we add as many fields and screens as we want?• Can we import spreadsheets?• Can we set up our own business rules such as entitlements and maternity policies?• Can the system manage shift patterns in hours and minutes?• When a user logs in can they have different levels of access through a single login (i.e. Self serve, manager, HR user and Recruiter)• Is everything from a single supplier, no partner systems?• When we write a report can we actually use the information to take action?• Is the system process led?• Can I build workflows myself? If so, show me by building one and running it. Include decisions, forms, screens and mail merge emails• We want a system that guides users through activities. Show me how your system caters for it.• I want the system to monitor KPIs and warn me when certain criteria have been met. How does your system do that?• Show me a full process from a Manager wanting to recruit, through to application and employment of a new member of staff.• Can we build on screen forms ourselves?• Is it one system for everyone or do we have to install lots of systems?• Is it on the best technology and if so, is it proven or was it released recently?• Do you have lots of organisations using your systems already?
Our chosen supplier
We have chosen Cascade because:• They have a .net HR system which is 100% browser based• They have a HMRC accredited payroll system which is theirs, not partnered• They do everything in house so we deal with one supplier for all support, software and services• Their systems are proven and we have contacted 2 of their 170 clients using the .net system who gave excellent references• They have a strong track record•They are rated 2 by Dun & Bradstreet and have been listed in Who’s Who as one of the fastest growing companies in the UK• They provided the best match to our specification and also the challenging questions• They exceeded our expectations by offering thought provoking functionality • We can see fact based returns from the concepts on offer
