What a great day Sunday at FCC! Thanks to everyone who made Easter Sunday services so very special –
thanks to Jim Coonce for the planning, and thanks to everyone involved! This year, we offered two unique services on Easter and both brought glory and honor to God the Father – which is exactly what Easter services,
and all of our services for that matter, should accomplish. I want to say a special word of thanks to the adult choir
and their longtime director Ruth Davidson. This wonderful group of Christ followers shared two specials during first service on Sunday, and also shared two
specials during our Maundy Thursday service. They love to serve the Lord with their voices, and I know I don’t take enough time to thank them and recognize them. Will you join me this week in seeking them out
and thanking them for their excellent service to the Lord? And on May 8, they will be singing for the final time this year until the fall – make sure you make worship a priority on the 8th to support the choir!
Thanks also to the following who made Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday morning
services so special this year: Mary Holland, Marcia Wise, Dixie Montgomery, Jim Coonce, Mark and Vicki Whitted, the sound and light crew – Adam Brucker, Mark Kane, Dana Korneman, Chris
McDonald, Larry Roberts, and Tad Wolfe, all of the ushers, greeters and servers, and the ministry and support staff at FCC. Thanks so much!
The Gospel According to Greg (cont’d)
This Sunday, we start a brand new 5 week sermon series on the Holy Spirit entitled: “Life . . . Blown Away.”
I’ll be working on these sermons each week with five different preachers from central Illinois and look so forward to sharing these messages with you. This week the message is in entitled The Presence – hope to see
you Sunday at either 8:15 or 11:00. Several other special events are happening during the month of May, including:
May 8 – Mother’s Day – adult choir end of the
year presentation
May 15 – Graduate Sunday and our 4th annual “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” Sunday
May 22 – CLASS Act kids presentation during both morning worship services
May 29 – Remembrance Sunday at FCC – just one service at 9:30 a.m.
Finally, I teach a Bible School class each week in the Fellowship Hall – the Faith Builders Class. I love this group of Christ followers very much and would love to invite YOU to join us if you are not plugged in to a class.
This week we begin a new six week series entitled The JESUS I Never Knew, based on the book by Philip Yancey. We will study various accounts of Jesus in the
Gospels, and also view video clips each week of movies portraying Jesus and his ministry. I would love to see you in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am from May 1st through June 12th.
See you Sunday!

Young at Heart
David Buck, Coordinator
God has said that He is with us at all times. This is a powerful truth that can absolutely demolish fear in our lives. We don’t have to see or feel Him in order to believe that. Faith is a matter of the heart, not the natural senses, God is with you! Believe it and begin living courageously. Renew your mind to the truth that God is always with you by thinking about it and confessing it. The more aware you are of His Presence the more confident you will be. “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Psalm 118:6 On the 4th of May we’ll have Norma Nichols giving us a program that will lead us through the Holy Lands with her program and pictures. This will be a great day to remember. Then on the 18th we’ll have our friend Carl McFeeters Thompson giving us a fine program of what is going on at the Old School House. June will bring us to a very special performance from Marcia Wise on the 1st. We’ve been waiting on this for several years. Then on the 15th we’ll enjoy Kathy Brake playing the piano like Rick Roy and singing some of his old songs. “My business is not to remake myself, but to make the absolute best of what God made.” Robert Browning Starved Rock was a fine trip for all and a delightful entertainment. The next trip will be a refreshing day on the River Boat Cruise on the 19th of May, big bands will play and toes will tap. We’ll travel to the Little Theater in Sullivan to see the famous play “Cats” on the 11th of June. The Miller and Hopkins Show of Broadway tunes, at the Beef House, will be on July 11th. On the 13th of August we’ll travel to Hillsboro, IN, for a fun day at Myer’s Dinner Theater to enjoy “Show Boat.” September the 9th we’ll go to the St. Louis Arch for a good day at Kimmswick, MO, enjoying time on a river boat ride. October we’ll have a mystery trip on the 1st. Then off to Branson in November on the 7, 8, 9 &10th. In December we’ll go to Christmas in the Chapel. “The better part of one’s life consists of his friendships.” Abraham Lincoln As we just went through the Easter week, how much do we recall what Jesus has done for us all our life? First, all our sins were taken away and just knowing Jesus is with us always keeps our faith strong and loving. Remember a special song we once sang, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.”

Shake It Up Café will be June 13-17. The
lessons this year all center around the
festivals the Israelites celebrated - and
therefore the theme of the café and food.
On Monday they will learn how the
Israelites remembered the Passover with
a feast. They were to be ready just as
we are to be ready for God. On Tuesday
they will learn about three celebrations;
the Festival of First Fruits, the Festival of
the Weeks and the Festival of Booths as
they learn about giving happily to God.
Then the New Testament stories include
Jesus celebrating the Festival of the
Booths and the Passover, and the
disciples celebrating the Festival of
Weeks and Pentecost. We can celebrate
God forever.
Please remember to keep bringing in the
items we need for crafts. Even if you
have just one quart jar, one potato chip
can, or one of the other items, bring
them in. Next week I will try to let you
know how many more of each of the
items we need. Again, thank you.
CAMPING AT LITTLE GALILEE
Church camp changes lives!!! Many plans
and activities have been set in motion.
Camping at Little Galilee is a
concentrated time of Christian teaching
and activities. Lives will be influenced to
follow Jesus. Churches are stronger
because of Christian camps like Little
Galilee. It is a fantastic investment in
the future of God’s kingdom and an
enjoyable time for your child. We want a
week at Little Galilee to be an exciting
place for kids to will learn about Jesus.
SENIOR HIGH GRADUATE SUNDAY
On May 15th we will have Graduate
Recognition Sunday for those graduating from
high school. We will bring the students on
stage at the end of each service, and at 9:30
