News from Peru…

This summer the LAFF trustees spent 3 weeks in Peru visiting project sites like

‘Azul Wasi’ children’s home, and seeing how your donations are making a

real difference on the other side of the world.

To date, money raised through events like the Pub Quiz and Channel Swim,

has funded new and exciting ventures, like a small-scale farming project to

generate additional income for the home, and greenhouse and bathroom

renovation projects.

Whilst in Peru, discussions with our man on the ground, Alcides, allowed us

to make more plans to meet the home’s most pressing needs over the

coming years. And we’re pleased to say that your support and donations

will allow us to fund a resident guardian and the services of a visiting child

psychiatrist in 2010, as well as continue our ongoing support of the

children’s educational costs.

Read more about projects past, present and future, and meet some of the

young residents of Azul Wasi, by clicking on this link.

LAFF Newsletter Autumn/Winter 2009

At 04.30am on 31st July six brave LAFF supporters

plunged into the icy waters of the English Channel in

a sponsored attempt to swim to France. .. And we’re

pleased to report that, a respectable 13 hours

17 minutes and 10 seconds later, they got there!

The swim raised a huge £12,000+ for ‘Azul Wasi’

children’s home, and we’d like to thank all our

supporters for their donations and the support they

showed the swimmers. You can read below how the

money raised is being spent…

In 2004 there were 218 million

children engaged in child labour,

unprotected from abuse and

exposed to extreme hardship.

Help them escape their fate.

This year’s Christmas fundraiser at The Bedford in Balham is a musical

extravaganza that promises excellent entertainment, fantastic raffle prizes

and great company. Join us on 10th December to start the festive season in

style. We’ll also be selling Christmas cards designed by the young residents

of Azul Wasi.

You can buy your tickets now at www.justgiving.com/startofthesillyseason

for a pocket friendly £10 (£15 on the night). All proceeds as usual will go to

help street children.

If you’re able to help us on the night as a volunteer then please get in

touch ([email protected]) – we’d love your support!

Christmas appeal

Ten quid would barely buy you lunch in the UK.

For the children we support it represents the

support of a psychologist, school materials or

electricity and clean water for the home.

With the festive season approaching we are

asking all our supporters to spare a thought for

the children at Azul Wasi, and donate whatever

you can.

It’s quick, it’s easy. Just click here now

Thank you for your ongoing support!
