Responsibilities include:• A strong story-telling

ability demonstrated through stories rather than routine coverage of meet-ings or events. A proven commitment to help read-ers appreciate the impor-tance of these stories and the effects it may have in their lives. Provide per-spective and context for stories. You must be ready to chase the story at anytime.

• Ability to gather, edit and present information on available journalistic plat-forms, including print, on-line and broadcast. Must be able to shoot video and still photographs frequent-ly and be able to edit own packages and other news items.

• Develop and execute cov-erage of western North Dakota, including the state capitol, the Oil Patch, and the farm and business communities. Work with sources to gather information. Orga-nize materials, determine focus and produce stories according to prescribed editorial standards.

• Respond quickly in the event of breaking news. Work with editors to pro-vide versions of stories suitable to FCN's multiple platforms.

Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in com-

munications, journalism or related field.

• Prior videography, report-ing, writing and video edit-ing in an independent set-ting, using Final Cut Pro or other NLE systems.

• Professional news experi-ence in organizing materi-al, determine focus and producing stories quickly according to prescribed standards.

• Strong organizational ability.

• Must have a valid driver's license with a driving record that is insurable by the company.

• Work hours may include nights and weekends.
