Methane gas is naturally createdas garbage decomposes in alandfill. The gas is captured andcollected through a series of wellsthat are drilled into the landfill.
The methane gas is transportedfirst to a gas scrubber, whichextracts moisture and filters outparticulates, and then to acompression facility.
Finally, the gas is used to fuel turbinesor engines to produce electricity. For direct-use applications, landfillgas is delivered offsite to industrialcustomers and used as an alternativefuel source.
