Flame Maple Series

The Flame Maple ukuleles in our Lanikai Designer series have solid spruce

tops and beautifully figured flame maple backs and sides, real wood bin-

dings, ornate abalone inlays.

Curly Koa Series

Instrument builders in Hawaii derived the ukulele from the Portugue-

se cavaquinho that sailors left there centuries ago. Koa, a Hawaiian

tonewood, became a traditional choice for the ukulele and shaped the

characteristic sound. The Lanikai Curly Koa series uses a variety of this

exotic wood. The grain of the koa is very pronounced, which is why

it is described as “curly”. The CK ukes are offered in all shapes from

Soprano to Baritone. The CK-6E is a 6 string tenor acoustic/electric

uke and the CK-TEQ comes with a cutaway and a pickup system from

Shadow.

For the ukulele gourmets among you, Lanikai has introduced the Lani-

kai SKEC, an AAA grade all solid koa concert uke, with a Fishman So-

nicore pickup/EQ system. The SKEC has the 37mm wide fingerboard,

slotted headstock, abalone inlays and rosette, flame maple wood bin-

ding, and a back 3-tier center stripe (maple-rosewood-maple).

LU - Series

The LU series has become the first choice for many musicians, inclu-

ding performing artists. Lanikai LU ukuleles are available in soprano,

concert, tenor and baritone sizes. These ukuleles with sapele maho-

gany tops, sides and backs offer great playability and Lanikai sound at

an entry level price. For stage use, we offer acoustic electric versions

with cutaways and a pickup/EQ. For those who seek a new playing

experience and a new sound, we also offer 6- and 8-string LU-tenor

models.

Lanikai Takes You from the Beach to the Stage

Excellent craftsmanship, nice sound and playability as well as Aquila nylgut strings have made Lanikai ukes the

first choice for players across the globe. The different Lanikai families are consistently offered in the four key

shapes soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. Some models are offered with a built-in pickup and equalizer.

Our quality standards ensure that any ukulele in the Lanikai range meets our stringent requirements for good

playability across the entire fretboard, well balanced timbre, tuning stability and good intonation.

Spruce Series

Ready to upgrade to a solid top ukulele?

Spruce is a light, yet dense tonewood and an all time favo-

rite tonewood in acoustic guitars. The models in the Lanikai

Spruce Series are built with solid spruce tops, mahogany

backs and sides and come in soprano, concert, tenor or ba-

ritone size. The S-TEQ is a tenor ukulele with a cutaway and

a pickup/EQ for those players wishing to take the uke from

the beach to the stage.

Exotic Wood Series

A Zebra and a Monkey walk into a Bar….Lanikai has taken us to every part of the globe. Being the wood junkies that we are, we cannot resist finding new materials to

experiment with. From these travels we came across Zebrawood and Monkey Pod. Each produces a fresh tone unique to the

woods distinct resonance capabilities. Unadorned by synthetic enhancements, this series captures the pure essence and beauty

of the natural world.

The zebrawood and monkeypod models are available in concert and tenor size, optionally as acoustic/electrics with a Fishman

Sonicore pickup. The Exotic Wood Series have a slotted headstock and an extra-wide(37mm) fingerboard, resulting in extra

playing comfort for chords and solos all up and down the neck.

Lanikai road-tested the monkeypod and zebrawood models at the 2010 Cairns Ukulele Festival in Australia, where emerging

ukulele talent Matt “JumpingFlea“ Dahlberg (www.thejumpingflea.net) chose them for his performances.

munity. In contrast to many basic ukes and uke shaped objects out

there, the Kohala soprano ukes provide good playability and tuning

stability. We offer three variants: A light stain HU212 and the dark

red-brown stain KU212.

The new KO-S comes with the new Kohala Kolohe headstock. Ko-

lohe is the reckless ukulele rascal who sneaks up on you when you

Wondering About 6- and 8-String Ukes?

If you think a 6-string uke is stringed like a guitar, you are wrong!

6-string ukuleles typically use a GCEA tuning. The third string (C) is octaved with a C and the first string (high A) is doubled with a low A. This string configuration is called “inverted”. This allows to produce completely new sound and timbres while using a standard fingering for solo notes and chords. 8-string tenor uku-leles are the uke equivalent of a 12-string guitar.
