Reeling in on the right hand drum of the cable control unit brings the TRAVEL­LING SHEAVE BLOCKS (6) together and raises the BOWL. Releasing the drumlowers SCRAPER.

In bringing the SCRAPER into carry position, bring the TRAVELLING BLOCKS(6) together only to the point where the INDICATOR BAR, mounted on R. H. BLOCK,reaches the edge of the L. H. BLOCK. It will be noted that there is now a distanceof approxJmately 10" between the BLOCKS (6).

The left hand cable pulls the REAR GATE forward. As the REAR GATE advances,the right hand cable, which continues from the SHEAVE BLOCKS (6), to the rear ofthe SCRAPER and thence across the front of the HORIZONTAL SHEAVE 1.2) on therear gate, begins to pull the BLOCKS (6) together. The distance between SHEAVEBLOCKS (6) mentioned above is sufficient to allow the REAR GATE to travel the fulllength of the BOWL without bringing the blocks together.

To return the REAR GATE to its normal position release the R. H. drum. Theweight of the FRONT APRON, when the SCRAPER is In carrying heig~t, plus theLEVER ARM booster, plus the weight of the BOWL, pulls the TRAVELLINGSHEAVE BLOCKS (6). apart which in turn pulls the right hand cable returning theGATE automatically.

ShOUld, for any reason, it be necessary to pull the REAR GATE back, reel in onthe right hand drum until the SHEAVE BLOCKS (6) come completely together andcontinue reeling In, releasing the brake of the left hand drum, and the GATE willreturn to Its normal position.

The opening of the FRONT APRON ill accomplillhed by reeling in on the left handdrum. Thill movea the REAR GATE forward and the direct linkage opena the FRONTAPRON. Direct forw,rd movement of 8w of the REAR GATE opena the frontapron 22". From this point on the APRON opens an additional 3" to each 1H move­ment of the REAR GATE.

FOR SPREADING IN LAYERS-As was expla.inedabove. as the REAR GATEadvancell the SHEAVE BLOCKS.(6) are pulled together lllightly. Any desired depthcan be spread by releasing the right hand drum as the REA·RGATE advances, therebykeeping tbe TRAVELLINGSHEAVE BLOCKS (6) in the same posRion.

FOR TRANSPORTING-On the rear side of the TRAVELLINGSHEAVEBLOCiCS(6) is a HOOKAND LATCH arrangement to be used in transporting the SCRAPER.Raise SCRAPER to its ·fullbeight and engage LATCH. Re.ease the R. H. drum untilcable becomes slack. SCRAPER can now be transpOrted without any load beingcarried by the cables. ,

CARE OF THE J;QUIPMENTThis unit is equipped with grealling facUlties at all wear points. In addition, all

wear points are equipped with replaceable bushinga and piDII.For satisfactory performance and long life, we recommend greasIng this unit once

each working day. Use standard pressure gun grease, semi-ftuld, heavy in summerand medium in winter. .

Grease the wheelllonce each month using same type of grease &8 mentioned above.When greasing the wheelll, release the hub cap slightly to prevent blowing out thegrease seal in the rear of the bub.
