Plant criteria Soil:Soil:Wet/damp soil conditions along the G.I river
Wind:Wind:Light winds along the plant-ing zones, as it is sheltered by buildings
Sun/Shade:Sun/Shade:The plants selected should be suited for shady conditions as the surrounding buildings cre-ate shaded areas along the G.I river

Soil conditions The soil conditions will be moist as it is on the banks of a small river. The soil will be dark and loamy. Soil depth under the trees is 1000 mm while the soil depth under perennials and shrubs is 750 mm. All plants selected prefer damp and moist soil conditions, especially the Betula nigra as its common name is river birch.
Maintenance Water twice a week for the first four weeks when planted.
Maintenance for plants is low, prune shrubs after winter, can cut back perennials before spring, keep clean and neat around edges, trim Betula nigras to not exceed 4.5 meters in spread and cut/train the tree to be a clear min. height of 2 meters between the ground and first outward branch.
