� What is not found on the internet, does not exist !

� Growing loss of importance of intellectually controlled databases

� Growing dilettantism, professional intermediaries are losingground

Empirical Study On Information Behaviour at University Augsburg Showed The Following Results

� 90% consider themselves as information literate

� 90% are satisfied with the results of their internet

search

� 60% but show weaknesses in the literacy test

� 48% consider the internet as better organised than the

university library

� 49% cannot judge on their satisfaction with the library

Despite the fact that most skills are being acquired outside of learning institutions, informal learning is still considered to be little important. Meanwhile, both staff and employers benefit from it.

"The best learning occurs in real life, with real problems and with real people –

not in classrooms." (Charles Handy)

� Studies show that we do learn approximately 80 percent of our skills informally

� NASA estimates the share of informal learning at the workplace even at

85 to 90%! (Hoffman 2009)
