Week 8– Term 4 – 2nd December 2020

The final panui/newsletter of the year!! The year is now being counted down as we finish school on Friday 11th December at 12 midday. It may seem early to you but we started the year early. We align with our local Intermediate so that whanau can plan their position of that for work and childcare. Next year we kick off on 3rd February 2021 at the usual time. Monday 1st February is Auckland Anniversary Day and we commence school on Wednesday 3rd, next year starts a little later by a few days and of course ends a little later. If you wondered how it happens, the Ministry of Education in Wellington sets the school dates and we fit in with how it sits in regions. The 1st February is the first legal day you can open and all schools south of Auckland will most likely open then, but with Auckland Anniversary Day, we are needing to start that little bit later. Team Change Next year we have made some slight changes with the best interests of the students at heart.

Jo Beaumont will support Year 4 – 6 literacy and Neil Leathley will do one day per week for KPS News. The management team will consist of Ben Soole, Brenda Lewis, Jane Bowker and myself.

Farewell We say goodbye to Mrs Stevens and Mrs Keen at the end of the year and wish them well. We also extend our gratitude for their work at Kamo Primary School. A huge FAREWELL goes to Mr Neil Leathley who is retiring from his full time work in education. Neil has been a key part of the school for many years. He has contributed majorly to our technology wellbeing, and KPS News has been his ‘baby’ from conception. It is something we all love and our students hunger to be part of the production team. Neil always brings a smile to our faces and he is both proud and humbled by all the great students he has taught, or been able to be a part of their primary school experience. We will miss his full time presence at KPS! Go well Mr Leathley…we love you!! Thank you to all the staff of Kamo Primary School, they are such a great team and so dedicated to the school! To the community, I extend my sincere gratitude for your support and your children are the BEST! Have a great Christmas, holiday break and may good wellbeing, safety and fun be the priority for all!

Mere Kirihimete! We look forward to seeing you all in 2021!
