*When you first join a class…

*It’s possible that you will be the first to enter! You’ll see the names of people in the class appear in a window/box on the right side of your screen.

*The default icons show a blue suit and tie for the facilitator/presenter and green shirts for each of the other attendees.

*You should be able to hear the presenter as soon as she/he appears, but you will not be able to be heard at first

*(please see next slide)

*Webcam, mic, ‘pencil’?

When you first join a WizIQ class, only the facilitator has webcam, audio, and ‘pencil’ control. I will ask you if you would like to have both webcam and audio, or audio only when you join a class. Sometimes I’ll give ‘pencil’ control, too! The facilitator has the ‘power’ to turn your webcam, mic, and ‘pencil’ on/off. [Please be patient; it can take a few minutes to turn everyone’s webcams and audio / mics on.]

*Important!

*IMPORTANT! The link (URL) you see while in a WizIQ class is NOT the URL to share if you are inviting someone.

*Please see the next slide…

*Where to find useful class info…

*Once you have an account on WizIQ and log in, you’ll see a link for My Classes.

*When you click on the name of a class, you’ll see lots of info, including the correct class link!

*[Please see the next slide, too!]

*Viewing recordings…

• To view a recording for past classes, first sign in to WizIQ, click on “My Classes” and then click on “Past Classes” -- next click on the title of the class you want to view.

• You may be asked to “join” a class to view the recording, but you can click to “join” any PUBLIC class even after the class has ended

• Then simply click on View Recording (see image on prior slide)

*When you are in a class...

• Please participate!• If you would like to speak, let the facilitator / presenter know that

you would like to “have the mic”• If your mic is on (and others microphones are on, too), please be

polite!• It helps (in Holly’s classes, anyway) if you learn to type a • T • (in the text chat)• When you want to talk [T = “May I speak/talk, please?”]• or type a • C • [C = “May I make a comment please?]• or type a • Q • [Q = “I have a question I would like to ask, please.”]• This helps EVERYONE know what order to speak and listen in = in

consecutive order• You may also click the “hand” to raise your hand and try to get

the facilitator’s attention (see the inserted image above)• Anyone may type comments at any time during the class

(your name here)

*Screenshare

*Play a video or audio clip

*Give you ‘pencil’ control and ask you to type or post something to the whiteboards.

*Separate attendees into temporary smaller breakout rooms!

*WizIQ offers a lot of tools, a lot of possibilities to help you learn and practice English!
