This California joker is one sick puppy.

A Palo Cedro man said he dropped off severed dog paws on his ex's porch afterhe cooked her a meat dinner — all part of a twisted prank to make her believeshe ate her beloved pooch.

But Ryan Eddy Watenpaugh's former partner isn't so sure it was a gag: Thevictim told police she believes her crazy ex kidnapped, killed, cooked and servedup her Pomeranian, Bear.

Redding, Calif., police arrested the 34-year-old Thursday for animal cruelty afterthe victim accused him of the warped crime, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Watenpaugh was booked on domestic violence, false imprisonment and stalkingcharges, too, for allegedly physically attacking Bear's owner and holding herhostage twice.

The woman said the nightmare started during an Aug. 4 argument.

After Watenpaugh pounced on her - the last struggle in a series of violentassaults that left her cut and bruised - she fled the apartment, she said. Whenshe came back home later, Watenpaugh was gone.

So was Bear.

In September, the two made up, and Watenpaugh cooked her dinner one night,she told police. On Sunday, she received a chilling text asking how her dogtasted.

She immediately broke up with him, but the unsettling messages didn't stop: The34-year-old kept texting her to detail his plans for the rest of the pup's remains,she said.

On Tuesday, Watenpaugh took the torment to an even creepier level.

The victim said she watched him drop off a bag on his ex-girlfriend's front porchand quickly dashed off. When the women peeped inside the sack, she found twodog paws.

They belonged to Bear, she said.

Watenpaugh insisted that he did not kill or cook Bear, but he did confess that hesent the creepy texts and left the paws - which belonged to another dog, notBear - at his ex's home.

If the paws don't belong to Bear, it's not clear where Watenpaugh got them.

He's being held in Shasta County Jail on $250,000 bail.
