This project was a collaboration with the Media Arts division and the Business Enterprise Center (BEC) at LCCC. TV/Film students were responsible for all aspects of pre-production through post-production. Below are the programs and student producers. The videos will be available on the program pages on the web and four are now posted on YouTube.

De-Stress with Therapy Dogs

Students and staff had the opportunity to de-stress from end-of-the-semester pressures on Dec. 6 with therapy dogs from Tall Tails Kennel/Training, with Robyn Achey.

LVHN Street Medicine Holiday Program

Students in LCCC’s Medical Assistant program collected and filled backpacks for the Lehigh Valley Health Network Street Medicine Holiday Program recently. Students assembled and delivered the backpacks.

LCCC Veterans Club and Licensed Practical Nursing Association Projects

Two student clubs participated in a winter collection for homeless veterans, gathering toiletries, such as soap, shampoo, shaving products, etc. and new and unused winter apparel (socks, hats, gloves, sweatshirts, etc.). The Lehigh County Veterans Affairs Office has partnered with the Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living to take the donations and distribute them to local homeless veterans.

The LCCC Veterans Club also participated in Wreaths Across America on Dec. 17, at the Morgenland Church in Orefield and the Cedar Hill Memorial Park Cemetery near the Lehigh Valley International Airport. The mission is to place a wreath on every grave of people who served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice.

Kitchen and Bath Open HouseThe Kitchen and Bath Design students completed their Studio course, which

requires them to design and furnish a full-size working kitchen and bathroom using the latest in style and customer demand, and held an open house on Dec. 7. By studying the current professional journals and mentoring with local professionals, they were able to put together a trendy yet functional kitchen and bathroom. This experience exposes the students to a real-life situation, even without a professional studio. The open house was a great success as they toured guests through their house project and explained the details they encountered to complete a project of this magnitude. “As the faculty mentor of this project I couldn’t have been more proud of their amazing accomplishment,” said Jim DePietro.

LCCC Tamaqua Held PATH Nurse Aide Info Session A free information session was held Dec. 14 for the Nurse Aide program now offered at LCCC’s Morgan Center. Students

will receive career training for employment in skilled occupations through the Pennsylvania’s Advanced Training and Hiring (PATH) program, in addition to the services of a career coach and job developer dedicated to supporting student success and employment readiness. Class begins Jan. 30.

The Nurse Aide Certificate program prepares students for eligibility to take the PA Certification exam and be placed on the PA State Nurse Aide registry. It provides the necessary hands-on clinical experience for those seeking a career as a nurse’s aide and related subjects, including medical terminology, infection control and functions of human body systems, as well as the legal and ethical standards of healthcare, residents’ rights and required nursing skills.

Religious Panel DiscussionLCCC’s Diversity Committee hosted a panel discussion entitled “What Do People Believe? An Introduction to World

Religions” on, Dec. 6. The panelists featured the following religious leaders who represent a variety of faiths: Peter Pettit, Ph.D., associate professor of religion and director of the Institute for Jewish-Christian Understanding at Muhlenberg College; Rabbi Michael Singer, Congregation Brith Sholom, Bethlehem; James West, Moravian College, representing the Baha’i faith; Rabbi Melody Davis, Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton; and Suleyman Eris, president of Respect Graduate School, Bethlehem.

Dr. King’s Dream for JanuaryThe college will offer an inspiring tribute to the life

and teaching of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Monday, Jan. 16, with the presentation of “King's Dream.” Dr. King received the Nobel Peace Prize and led African Americans in the struggle for social change and racial equality for all people in the 1960s. His life will be documented in this presentation by Key Arts Productions from Philadelphia. The show includes captivating film footage, insightful commentary and live musical performances, capturing the spirit of the civil rights movement. The performance will be held at 6 p.m. in the Scheller-Woodman Community Services Center at LCCC’s main campus.

This program, which celebrates unity, diversity and peace, is free and open to the public.
