Lent has arrived

Seems like we just cleared theChristmas decorations out of thesanctuary but Lent is hereIt begins Ash Wednesday - thatsWednesday February 26 - with twoservices at noon and 7 pm Wehope you will make time for one ofthese special services where the

application of ashes will be offeredAnd of course with Lent comes a Lehman tradition - the Lehman LentenLuncheons They will begin Thursday February 27 at noon and continue eachThursday during Lent The soup and sandwich lunch is $5 but the lecture isfree These are popular for good reason - they will enrich your Lentenexperience while you enjoy a tasty lunch and warm fellowship The theme isembracing the uncertainThis yearrsquos Lenten study will center on Max Lucadorsquos ldquoSix Hours One FridayLiving in the Power of the Crossrdquo Pastor Nancy will lead a study Mondaymornings at 930 Pastor Andy will lead two studies every other Tuesday at930 am and 7 pm Melinda Krpata will lead a study each Sunday after the930 am service You can reach out to the church office

This yearrsquos Lenten theme will be ldquoJourney of Stonesrdquo Each week we will bechallenged to give up our stones and live for Christ

In addition to Ash Wednesday we will also have noon and 7 pm services onHoly Thursday (April 9) in remembrance of the Last Supper On Good Friday(April 10) we will recognize the passion and sacrifice of Christ with the Stationsof the Cross from noon to 3 pm and a 7 pm service Now is the time toprepare for this most important season

Congregational discernment meetings continue

As we discussed a few weeks ago theUnited Methodist Church is poised topossibly separate over issues of humansexuality and the practice of ministry

Lehman UMC and Casa Del Pueblo havebegun a process of discernment aprocess of knowing about understandingand considering the implications of adetailed proposal calling for an amicableseparation ldquoA Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace through Separationrdquo wasreleased on January 3rd

What will our churches do if such a vote is called at the General ConferenceWhat are some of the ways we might be prepared to receive the results of theConference What does it all mean for our church Such questions willhopefully be answered in this process for discernment

Our monthly congregational meetings continue Saturday February 29 from 9am - 11 am We will also meet on March 28 and April 25 The appointedpastors will take the time to give you correct relevant and timely informationThere will be a time for us to share our thoughts with one another and to praytogether as well

Pizza amp Game Night set for March 20

We had so much fun wersquore doing it again mark your calendar for Friday March20 from 6pm-8pm Wersquoll have a pizza and game night in Fellowship Hall thatwill be fun for all ages Bring a game to share This will be free thoughdonations will be accepted
