LENT
Lent is a great time to return to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I will offer extra times for this Sacrament during Lent as well as the hour on Saturdays. Check the bulletin each week for this schedule. We also will pray the Stations of the Cross at 7:30 a.m. each Friday of Lent. Please join us when you are able. Finally, please take the Little Black Book of daily devotions to use for a few minutes each day. These have been very popular. I also am providing a book for Spiritual reading titled Into His Likeness: Be Transformed as a Disciple of Christ by Dr. Edward Sri. Please take advantage of the several programs offered on FORMED for Lent. It includes a short video each day from my friend Dr. Tim Gray.
A LENTEN MISSION
I have been wanting to find a time to offer some spiritual talks. Usually you only get to hear me a few minutes on Sunday. So on Sunday, March 24 and Monday, March 25 we will have a mini-mission entitled SEVEN WAYS TO HEAVEN: LEARNING TO LOVE THE SACRAMENTS. Each night will have 2 talks with a break in the middle. We will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end about 8:15. We will have a social each evening after the talks. I am excited to present about these great gifts and how they can be lived out in our parish life. Please join us for this time of learning and prayer.
LENT 2019
Lent is a 40-day period leading up to Easter beginning with Ash Wednesday. Lent is a penitential season, that means it is an opportunity to examine our life, give our struggles to God, and invite Him to help us become the best version of ourselves. During Lent there is a strong focus on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. All these spiritual exercises help prepare us for the celebration of the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This weekend please pick up your free copy of the Edward Sri book INTO HIS LIKENESS and THE LITTLE BLACK BOOK (Six-minute meditations on the Sunday Gospels of Lent). You are also welcome to join in a book study on INTO HIS LIKENESS. The book study will be meeting on the six Tuesdays of Lent, begin-ning March 12, from 12:30-2:00 p.m. in the Gathering Space. For more information about the book study, please call Ann Gage at 257-4392
