Cell Division = Mitosis + Cytokinesis
* Remember the chromosomes have already duplicated prior to Mitosis
Prophase
- chromosomes appear (condensed)
- centrioles begin to move to opposite ends of the cell
- nuclear membrane begins to disappear
- spindle fibers form
-
Lesson 1 Cell Division + Mitosis.notebook April 25, 2020
Metaphase
- Chromosome line up across equator (center) of cell
- spindle fiber attaches at the centromere
Anaphase
- sister chromatids separate
- attached to a spindle fiber and begin to be pulled toward centriole

Telophase
- chromosomes de condense
- nuclear membrane forms around each group of chromatin
Cytokinesis occurs next
- cell pinches off into 2 new daughter cells
- cytokinesis is part of the M phase but not part of Mitosis
* The cells are now ready to enter interphase
