Aims: to get familiar with oral commands

to develop their pronunciation skills

to learn and use selected vocabulary items

Anticipated problems: students may find difficulty in speaking freely in English

they may be afraid of making mistakes when they talk

Teaching techniques:- associating the new vocabulary items to pictures representing the colours

- repetition drills

Teaching aids: - worksheets

- flashcards with different colours on

Class management: whole class activity, in groups, individual

Evaluation: observation, conversation, colouring

Activities:

Type of interaction Timing

Warm-up: T→S 3 min

Procedure: Greetings, informal conversation. Check if all the students are attending the class.

Lead-in: S→T 7 min

Aim: To remember the numbers

Procedure: The teacher will elicit the numbers learnt during the previous lesson and say them out loud.

Activity 1: S→T 10 min

Aim: To improve their pronunciation skills

Procedure: The students will be shown flashcards representing colours and they will be

asked to repeat their names in English after the teacher.

Activity 2: S→T 13 min

Aim: To make students take an active part in the learning process

Procedure: For this activity, the students will work in groups of four. Each group will

receive a set of coloured flashcards which they will lay on the desk. The game is called

Show me and it involves the students to show the teacher the colour he has asked for.

They will take turns in showing the right flashcard. The team with most answers right

wins.

Activity 3: S↔S 12 min

Aim: to learn and use selected vocabulary items

Procedure: For this activity the students will receive a worksheet which they will have to

colour appropriately, according to instructions.
