Dear Sir/Madam:

RE: Letter of Support towards the Purchase of a PWDs Braille 200 Electronic Machine and Book

Project

Greetings from Kyambogo University, Kampala - UGANDA.

As part of the celebrations to mark Uganda’s Golden Jubilee (50th Independence Anniversary), Kyambogo University

and The Commonwealth People’s Association-Uganda (CPAUG) are undertaking the above captioned subject due to

an urgent need in the Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation. The Faculty has been depending on an old

machine which has now broken down. The purpose of this appeal is therefore to seek for partners who can donate

to the university in order to replace the only braille machine that we have had in the university, and the in the

country. The current machine was donated 18 years ago by DANIDA.

The Commonwealth People’s Association-Uganda (CPAUG), an NGO registered in Uganda in 2005 to promote the values of the Commonwealth, is leading the drive for this noble cause.

The Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation is also currently undertaking the equipping of its library, computer laboratory for persons with special needs, and the production workshop. Among other things, we are sourcing for text books, computers and other study guides and tools for the year 2013/2014.

All this is targeting people with disabilities (PWDs) and the student population of over 1500 per academic year. The purpose of this letter is therefore to recommend to you CPAUG in its endeavor to mobilize funds towards this initiative of purchasing a Braille Electronic Machine with the relevant software and teaching guides, textbooks for PWDs, and 2 Work stations. The entire project will cost approximately USD 20,259.75.

Kyambogo University is fully in support of this initiative.

Any assistant rendered towards this project is highly appreciated.

Yours Sincerely,

Dr. John Baptist Okech Dean, Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation
