What is Dropbox?
Dropbox is a web-based service that syncs files across multiple platforms, regardless of filetype. But you’re not limited to the web — there’s a desktop application for PC, Mac and Linux AND apps for iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android.
Dropbox allows you to save a file on your home computer, open it and edit it at work or school, and view it on your smartphone.
Dropbox also automatically creates backup versions of your files.
File syncing
• Edit and save a file on one device, and it automatically syncs to your other Dropbox-enabled devices.
File sharing
• Any file you save to the Public folder is assigned a public link you can share with others– Go to bit.ly/dropboxdoc for an example
• You can also invite specific people to share any other folder in your Dropbox folder
Online backup
• When you save a file to your Dropbox folder, it’s automatically backed up to Dropbox’s servers.
Undo and undelete
• Dropbox keeps a history of every change you make so that you can undo any mistakes and even undelete files.
• Default history is 30 days, but they offer other packages.
What it replaces

How can I use it in my job campaign?

How can I use it at my Job Club?
• Create a shared group folder– Member profile folders– Resources folder
• Networking card templates• Sample resumes/cover letters• eBooks (PDF)
– Meeting notes folder• Guest Presentations• Meeting minutes• Meeting norms• Upcoming schedule
Is Cloud Storage Secure?
Security and Privacy
• Who owns the data I put on the file sharing service? From Dropbox Terms of Service:– “You retain full ownership to your stuff. We don’t claim
any ownership to any of it. These Terms do not grant us any rights to your stuff or intellectual property except for the limited rights that are needed to run the Services, as explained below.”
– “To be clear, aside from the rare exceptions we identify in our Privacy Policy, no matter how the Services change, we won’t share your content with others, including law enforcement, for any purpose unless you direct us to. How we collect and use your information generally is also explained in our Privacy Policy”
Security and Privacy
• Dropbox uses modern encryption methods to both transfer and store your data.
• Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and AES-256 bit encryption transfer• Dropbox stores your data using 256-bit AES encryption, but they
hold the key.• Dropbox website and client software have been hardened
against attacks from hackers (Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3))
• Public files are only viewable by people who have a link to the file(s). Public folders are not browsable or searchable
• Nobody can see private files in Dropbox unless they are invited, or they’re in the Public folder. (Everything in your Public folder is, by definition accessible to everyone.)
Add a Second Layer of Encryption to Dropbox
– Dropbox stores your data using 256-bit AES encryption, but they hold the key.
– Use Viivo to encrypt your files automatically on your PC/Mobile Device BEFORE syncing with Dropbox.
– Viivo installs on your PC and creates another Dropbox folder that encrypts all the files in it.
– Viivo supports Android, iOS, Mac and Windows
