Lodge Recognition Awards 2017-2018

Elk of the Year – Teresa Aultz

Officer of the Year – Jerry Clemens

Citizen of the Year – Peggy Crowder

Teresa goes above and beyond to maintain theswimming pool for the community and our lodge. She spends countless hours preparing theswimming pool for the season. She can befound with waterproof boots and a powerwasher in her hands at the beginning of theseason.J She has collaborated with the cityto obtain grants to pay for repairs and a freeswim day for the community. She also savedthe last swim for our furry friends. I was veryproud to present this award and thank her forher dedication to the community and ourlodge.

Jerry, our Lodge Esquire consistently goes above andbeyond performing duties as an officer. Jerry devotesvolunteering extra time to truly become involved withcommunity events. He has volunteered to help withthe National DAP presentation at the local elementaryschool, the Hoop Shoot, supports the veterans, ENFauction, cooks in the pavilion for the State ElksTournament, gathers the PER, and is madman with ahedger during spring clean-up. I would like to thankJerry for his dedication to our lodge.

Peggy has been involved with the Impact grant forapproximately a year and half. She writes the grant andspend much time organizing the events to support thiscommunity based grant. This provides a monthly meal andan opportunity to have the community receive updates andinformation regarding community needs. These meetingsallows the Elks to be engaged with, informed, and hear fromthe community. This gathering also enables the communityto come together after the devastation of the June 2016flood and allows the Elks to be part of the long term recoveryof the area. Peggy is passionately involved in rebuilding thecommunity and wants to make the Rainelle area sustainablefor years to come. It was an honor to present this award toPeggy for making a difference in the community andfacilitating this effort through our lodge.

ENF Results:What does the ENF support?Community Investments Program—Which includes the Beacon,Gratitude, Promise and Impact grants—this allows LWB Lodge an opportunity to serve our community. ENF will also supportstate grants, scholarships, youth programs, and veteran services. These grants touchthe lives of our youths, veterans, disabled, and less fortunate within our community.

The Lodge had several events to raise money for the ENF….. Drumroll….. We did it!We met the requirement which was $4.75 per capita, the lodge achieved$9.87 per capita, this qualifies our lodge to serve the community with these grants.A BIG THANKS to all the members for their time and donations!
