Li Lu Jennings Is A Highly Respected Librarian And

Presidential Professor

Li Lu Jennings is a respected Librarian and Presidential Professor at the University of Minnesota. The University Library system holds 10 libraries on the campus. She manages historically rich collections placed in the libraries, and introduced nationally recognized model programs in information literacy, technology development, and new models for scholarly communication.

Before her appointment at this university, she held many key positions at the various other universities all across the country that include Associate Director of the University Library for Digital Library Services and Director of the Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library. Li Lu Jennings is a highly respected library futurist who challenges other fellow librarians to actively build the future of libraries through building scenarios for possible future outcomes, examining trends and technologies, then making plans for dealing with those outcomes.

She also implemented, designed, coordinated, and assessed the library instruction program and also trained fellow librarians in instructional theory and methods. Her work in developing and launching a digital library program was honored with the American Library Association’s Hugh Atkinson Award.

Li Lu Jennings received her Master of Arts degree in library science from University of Pittsburgh. She also attained her Bachelor of Arts in Russian language and literature from the same university. She is an active member of Public Library Association, the American Library Association, and California Library Association. She also worked at two positions at The Boston Conservatory that include the Evening Librarian/Metadata Specialist and later the Public Services Librarian.
