The building will remain closed to the public through August and curbside service will continue. We feel this is the safest route for patrons to get library items at this time. We have added another 24 hours to our quarantine procedure. Returned items are now quarantined for 96 hours before being cleaned and returned to the shelves. Our curbside hours are Monday through Friday, 10am-12noon and 2-4pm and Saturday 10am-12noon. You may call to reserve items Monday through Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. You may email or reserve items on our online catalog at any time. The library’s phone number is 231-861-4565 and email is [email protected]. You are able to reserve items on the online catalog at www.shelbylibrary.org. We offer copy, fax, and laminating services during curbside hours. Stop by and a librarian will complete your order while you wait in your car. We also accept emailed documents with printing instructions. You will need to pay with exact change in an outside cash box. Copies are B&W—15 cents per page; or color—25 cents per page. Faxes are $1.00 per page, and laminating is $1.00-2.00 depending on the size of the document to be laminated. We have a free book cart and free magazine bin at the north entrance. Please note we are not taking book donations at this time. We are trying to empty our hallway book sale area as this will be a future “pinch point” when we do re-open to the public. We encourage you to stop by to take some books, but we do ask you pass them along to someone else when you finish them. MeLCat will not be available until mid-August. When that starts back up, you can visit www.mel.org to request books. If you don’t have a library card and would like to use Overdrive, MeLCat, or check out books for curbside pick-up, call or email and we’ll get you set up. The building will remain closed to the public through August and curbside service

will continue. We feel this is the safest route for patrons to get library items at this

time. We have added another 24 hours to our quarantine procedure. Returned items

are now quarantined for 96 hours before being cleaned and returned to the shelves.

Our curbside hours are Monday through Friday, 10am-12noon and 2-4pm and

Saturday 10am-12noon. You may call to reserve items Monday through Friday

9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. You may email or reserve items on our online

catalog at any time. The library’s phone number is 231-861-4565 and email is

[email protected]. You are able to reserve items on the online catalog at

www.shelbylibrary.org.

We offer copy, fax, and laminating services during curbside hours. Stop by and a

librarian will complete your order while you wait in your car. We also accept emailed

documents with printing instructions. You will need to pay with exact change in an

outside cash box. Copies are B&W—15 cents per page; or color—25 cents per page.

Faxes are $1.00 per page, and laminating is $1.00-2.00 depending on the size of the

document to be laminated.

are not taking book donations at this time. We are trying to empty our hallway book

sale area as this will be a future “pinch point” when we do re-open to the public. We

encourage you to stop by to take some books, but we do ask you pass them along to

someone else when you finish them.

MeLCat will not be available until mid-August. When that starts back up, you can

Notes from Friends *August 2020* What a year this is turning out to be! We eagerly await the

reopening of our beloved Shelby Library and while we miss

the staff, books, computers, programs, fundraisers, etc, we

want our staff and all visitors to be safe. Thank you library

staff for continuing the curbside service in the meantime. With

the building still closed to us, the Friends will postpone any

meetings for the near future. Once it is safe to open the

building and allow visitors, we’ll get the word out to you. Stay

safe and healthy everyone.
