Description of IWO-71 Workcamp: Discover local treasure BUSAN 10.07 - 20.07 CULT, 15 vols
Busan is the second biggest city in Korea. It is famous with port, food and various cultures because it had been gate to all different kind of cultures from abroad in the history. Present and past heritages exist together harmoniously. This project is held in cooperation with Volunteer center in Haeundae district in order to promote the citizenship through voluntary service. International volunteers in this project will join various event and campaign to achieve the objectives.
Work:
Participant will paint the wall of old train station in order to decorate which is the historical building in Busan. Haeundae beach is famous in Korean but also has the issues related with environment due to lot of visitors. Participants will join the campaign and action to preserve the beach.

Description of IWO-72 Workcamp: Invisible but Visible , CHUNCHEON, 27.07 - 09.08 DIS, 12 vols
Chuncheon is about 80km away from Seoul and very calm and beautiful city because of mountain and lakes around. This project is held in cooperation with Myongjin blind School (between 8-15 years old). The school had ever put efforts to socialize blind students and with non-blind young students through summer English camp. It is good opportunities to both bind and non-blind students to understand each other and find talents.
Work:
Participants will lead a summer English camp for the young students: They will teach basic level of English, organize a talent show in English such as decorating class room & event place, promotion and practicing show with students. Volunteers will play an important role in encouraging and giving confidence to the blind students.

Description of IWO-74 Workcamp: Youth Empowering , WANDO, 30.07 - 12.08 , YOUTH, 15 vols
Wando is an island located in west-south about 500km away from Seoul. It has a bridge to mainland so that people can reach there conveniently by public transportation. Wando is famous with sea foods and beautiful landscape. However, it has depopulation issues especially in youth because their parents consider the better opportunities and condition of education in the bigger city. And also International exchange and experience is rare to these local children. Therefore, this project may provide new experience to local youth & children through international volunteers such as diverse cultures and education programs in cooperation with the host organization, which is local children center providing social and educational service for children and youth in Wando.
Work:
Participants will plan and run activities in 5 days-cultural camp on 2 times. There will be 20-30 local children in a camp who doesn’t speak English well. Any kind of activities and ideas from participants are very welcome such as traditional cultures, sports, play, choir, drawing, learning workshop and so on.

Munkyeong is 300km away to south from Seoul. It had been an important gateway to Seoul from southern province in Korea history. Therefore, it has easy access to important neighbor cities which has various heritages. Munkyeong has similar social issues like other small cities in Korea such as depopulation. It causes the less exchange on cultures, social benefit from outside in the end. It effects to youth in this city. They have rare chance to experience foreign cultures and global context. Therefore, participants will organize global village project in cooperation with the middle school in Munkyeong in order to develop their global citizenship.
Work: Participants will organize and run the Global village project (Intercultural youth camp) for local youth. This project will have various activities related with environment, human right, intercultural understanding through food, costume, social issues and so on in order to develop the global citizenship of local youth. Participants are required to bring interesting, educational ideas and materials to prepare the project.

Description of IWO-81 Workcamp: Wake up your sense ANSAN, 01.08 - 14.08 ART, 15 vols
This project is organized together with Gyeonggi Creation Center (GCC) located in a Sun-gam island in west coast of Korea. It has a long bridge to mainland so it’s convenient to reach. GCC supports creative works and research for domestic and foreign artists through an art residency alongside a wide range of programs and facilities, including art studios, exhibitions, local collaboration, international exchange, education, artwork storage, workshop, and international summer festival. Besides this, GCC has ever wanted to communicate with local society and youth in order to share the value of art through diverse programs.
Work: Participants will assist the artists¿ jobs which mostly are the installation works with various materials such as ceramic tiles, old vessel, wood, videos and pictures. The works will be exhibited to public in the end.

Busan is the 2nd biggest city in Korea and it’s about 500km away from Seoul to south. This project is held in cooperation with young artist network in Busan. They are specialized with installation art in the villages and city. They are interested in reviving the city outlook through art such as painting, making post, board, benches so on for non-profit purpose. The works will be exhibited in the art local festival. The project site is very unique due to its location; It’s small village in the very modern city but located in the mountain so that it has a fresh air and nice landscape with nature.
Work: Participants will work with artist on the wall and shops in the corner in order to renovate and create new design in the village. They will assist the exhibition of artists from other countries as well so that there are various physical works during a project. The artists are excited to work with international young people.

This region has been historically related with Korean War, North Korea issues (due to close to border) and very environmentally cleans area. Hence, they like to promote the region as memorial place for peace and healthy region with rice and vegetables. Participants will join in Peace children camp as assistance and farming with local farmers. It will be helpful a lot to local empowerment despite depopulation in the local.
Work: Participants will join in ¿Life and Peace Camp¿ and organize activities for city-children such as peace education, intercultural learning and outdoor activities. They will build tents in the forest and enjoy the nature during a project. This Camp is focused on promoting nature and peaceful life with people and nature. And they will also help farmers in the vegetable fields to pick vegetables. Participants may experience various local cultures and daily-life in Korea. Yeongwol is the most clean and nature-oriented province in Korea. It is about 400km away from Seoul to east bound. This area is surrounded by mountains so that young people has rare opportunities to experience different cultures from abroad. Korean young volunteers are excited to stay together with international young people during a project by various activities including voluntary service in the local. This project is held in cooperation with the several Children care center in YEONGWOL. It will be big summer camp for young children (from 8-15 years) which are economically disadvantaged in the local. Participants will assist this summer camp and also run a few sessions.
Work: Participants will assist the preparation and operation of summer camp and also organize a few sessions from their own ideas so that they will take a responsibility on the activities. The project site has various equipments and facilities related with outdoor and indoor so that any kind of idea for youth camp will be welcomed.

As part of the World Heritage Volunteers project, KNCU 2013-01 ㅡmainly focuses

up trash, trimming the weeds, and conducting street campaigns just to name a few for WHV project. For the after-school community learning center, you will work closely with the children to teach them language, culture, games, etc.
Accommodations: You will be living in a local house with other volunteers, equipped with modern kitchen and bathroom facilities. Food will be prepared by the campers. Language: The main use of language during the camp is English.
