The removal of the barriers marks a significant milestone for the project. Though they've been replaced with orange barrels for the next few months, the stage is set for the projected opening this fall of the second I-670 bridge over I-71. Yeah....we know. You'll miss those portable barriers about as much as having a flat tire in a downpour. But they served an important purpose in keeping traffic moving safely while construction crews moved tons of dirt and constructed new ramps and bridges. The orange barrels will be a temporary reminder that the health and safety for you and other drivers depends on observing the speed limits and keeping aware of upcoming traffic changes.

The positive changes taking place this spring and summer on the Columbus Crossroadswere also on the minds of people at a health fair not far from the project zone this pastweekend.

Columbus Crossroads Community Engagement Officer Ray Miller got lots of visitors at the 13th AnnualCommunity Day Health Fair at the OSU CarePoint East Health Center on Leonard Avenue. He receivedmany questions and compliments about how the community is being kept well-informed about the project.

Traffic will be detoured on I-670 east to Leonard Ave. to I-670 west to State Route 315south to I-71 south.The ramp will be reopened by 5 a.m. each morning.

Starting at 8 p.m. the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to State Route 315 south to I-71 south.The ramp will be reopened by 5 a.m. each morning.

Thursday Night, May 2

(I-670 east one-night lane restriction)

Starting at 9 p.m. I-670 east from Cleveland Ave to St. Clair Ave will be reduced toone lane.All lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. the next morning.

Thursday Night, May 2 (I-670 east lane restriction)

Starting at 9 p.m. the left lane of I-670 east from the Neal Ave exit to the ClevelandAve exit will close.All lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. the next morning.

Friday 5/3 (St Clair Ave northbound closure)

Starting at 9 a.m. the northbound lane on St Clair Ave will be closed under the I-71north to I-670 east bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic.All lanes will be reopened by 3 p.m. that day.

NEXT WEEK: Monday Night, May 6 to Friday Night, May 10 (Jack Gibbs to I-670 west nightly closures)

Starting at 8 p.m. the ramp from Jack Gibbs Blvd to I-670 west will be closed.All ramps will be reopened by 5 a.m. the next morning.

Monday Night, May 6 to Friday Night, May 10 (I-670 east to I-71 south Ramp Nightly Closures)

Starting at 9 p.m. the ramp from I-670 east to I-71 south will be closed. Traffic will be detoured on I-670 east to Leonard Ave to I-670 west to State Route 315south to I-71 south.All ramps will be reopened by 5 a.m. the next morning.

Monday Night. May 6 to Friday Night, May 10

Starting at 9 a.m. the southbound lane on St Clair Ave will be closed under the I-71north to I-670 east bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic.All lanes will be reopened by 3 p.m. that day.

Wednesday Night, May 8 and Thursday Night, May 9

(I-71 south nightly closure)

Starting at 9 p.m. I-71 south will be reduced to single lane. At 10 p.m. I-71 south traffic will be detoured to I-670 west. Traffic detour to I-670 west will be detoured to State Route 315 south to I-71 South.

Starting at 9 p.m. the ramp from 11th Ave to I-71 south will close.All ramps and lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. the next morning.

Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10

(St Clair Ave northbound closure)

Starting at 9 a.m. the northbound lane on St Clair Ave will be closed under the I-71north to I-670 east bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic.All lanes will be reopened by 3 p.m. each day.

Bike Detour to Start Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 11 To allow pavement resurfacing on Leonard Ave between St. Clair Ave and Bolivar St, thatportion of the I-670 Bikeway will be temporarily re-routed. If heading south:

Turn left from Leonard Avenue onto Trevitt St.,

Turn right on Halidon Ave. and follow to Bolivar St.Turn left on Bolivar St. and then turn right on Caldwell Pl.Turn right on Old Leonard Ave.Turn right on St. Clair Avenue and continue to reconnect with posted bicycle route.

If heading north:

Turn right on St. Clair Ave.Turn left on Old Leonard Ave. to Caldwell Place to Bolivar St.Turn right on Halidon Ave.Turn left on Trevitt St. where it will rejoin the I-670 Bikeway.

To ensureyour safety, pedestrian access to this area is strictly prohibited. Here's how to get around the construction:

Jack Gibbs Blvd. is closed between St. Clair and Cleveland avenues.The official detour for Jack Gibbs Blvd. is St. Clair Ave. to Second to Cleveland Ave.Another option is Hamilton Ave. to Spring St. to Cleveland Ave.
