Course Description:One of the hottest of certification and enforcement topics in the past several years has been the increased scrutiny employed by CMS relative to Life Safety Code inspections. The 2000 Life Safety Code establishes minimum criteria for the many protective features and systems, as well as, building services, operating aspects, maintenance activities, and other provisions in recognition of the fact that these entities must achieve an acceptable degree of safety for all who live and work in our centers. The 2000 edition of the Life Safety Code brought many new fire safety code requirements and interpretations for long term care facilities and the continued focus by CMS is anticipated to continue in the future. With the 2000 code implementation came an apparent tightening of Life Safety Code interpretations. This seminar will review the most frequent Life Safety Code violations cited of the past few years and offer practical solutions to maintain compliance.

Objectives:1. Review of major components of the 2000 Life Safety Code2. Discuss the most frequently cited LSC violations3. Examine proactive and practical solutions to achieve and maintain

compliance
