Charles Dickens wrote these words in the preface of a collection of books known as ‘Christmas Books’ to describe his purpose and intentions in writing such stories as ‘A Christmas Carol’.
It’s encouraging to know that this classic of the Christmas season sought to ‘awaken some loving and forbear-ing thoughts’. That’s our desire as well in putting together such a production to share with the community. While this production is not overtly Christian in label, there are numerous redemptive themes that we will be introducing in the play and exploring through the sermon series.
We are well on our way. The cast is working diligently rehearsing their lines, the publicity team is getting the word out (including yard signs that will be handed out this Sunday), the costumes are being fitted, the scenery is being designed and the pastors are laying out the sermon series. It’s a wonderful thing to see this come together.
Now, it’s time for your part…to invite someone to one of the shows. Begin to pray, pay attention to those you are in contact with on a regular basis and tell them about the show and perhaps even buy a ticket for someone as a gift. Again, we have a great opportunity to invest in others with more than a show, but with a relationship.
It’s an exciting time for us as a church. Let’s prepare ourselves in prayer for those God will bring into our fellowship and more importantly into a relationship with Christ. Let’s be ready to welcome and love people in the name of Christ.
