LS160 | Systematic Efficiency

LS160 highbay luminaire Quality of light up above

Among the most efficient luminaires on the market, with a high quality of light and optimum flexibility: the LS160 family enables almost all essential lighting tasks in halls. In industrial halls. In sports halls. In sales spaces. With heights from 5 to 20 metres. The diversity comes from the system concept – all

luminaire components are precisely matched to achieve a maximum in terms of quality of light, service life, light control and installation. And, of course, in terms of energy efficiency. LS160 is operating more than twice as efficient as its conventional predecessors – without any impact on the high visual comfort or quality of light.

LS160 highbay luminaireAs a DALI or ON/OFF version, the efficient and low-glare LS160 is a genuine replacement for highbay luminaires based on 250 W/400 W HQI/HQL– or 4 x 58 W/4x70 W T8 lamps.

LS160 | In Application

LS160 – multifunctional and reliable

— Various lumen packages, various light characteristics— High operating efficiency due to long lifespan and long

maintenance intervals— Good glare reduction (UGR < 25 respectively < 22)— Good color rendering (CRI > 80) with very high color

consistency— High protection rating (IP65), high impact resistance (IK08)— Ball-proof versions for sports halls (DIN VDE 0710, part 13)— D protection symbol for use in environments prone to fire

risk (in accordance with DIN EN 60598-2-24)— Complies with IFS standards for the food industry

LS160 provides low-glare light, efficient optics,

a lifespan up to 70,000 h and is suited for ambient

temperatures from -35°C to + 40°C respectively 45°C.

Lighting solution for sports halls

For sports halls four ballproof versions* are available, mounted with chain suspension or ceiling mounting set and easy-mount safety catches. The prismatic, semi-specular optic ensures pleasant glare reduction with reduced luminance to comply with the specific lighting specifications of sports halls. The version with UGR < 22 is especially suitable for all sports types requiring above-head vision.

* ballproof testing in accordance with DIN VDE 0710 Part 13

LS160 | Visual Comfort

Low-glare light – good visual conditionsStorage, production, logistics. Machines, processes and of course people – all cogs have to fit precisely for an in-dustrial company to function successfully. An important precondition for this is the right light at the right time, and in the right location. Good visual conditions in all areas help to avoid mistakes and are mandatory for efficient, safe work, with the same also applying to sports halls.

The LS160 is precisely the right solution for such demands: The prismatic, semi-specular optic (PS) of the LS160 is not only glare-reducing, but enables also low lu-minance levels that are comparable to the glare levels of standard T5 highbays. This even allows direct views into the luminaire without problems.

Glare for drivers and pedestrians in company traffic zones provides a high potential for occupational accidents (see DIN EN 12464-1:2011 5.1.1).A major problem source is forklift truck drivers in racking areas looking upwards during storage and retrieval tasks, or with the operation of gantry cranes.

9

LS160 | Visual Comfort

LS160 – a low-glare lighting solution

— Prismatic, semi-specular optics (PS) for reduction of glare and luminance level

— High visual comfort and pleasant light atmosphere— High level of uniformity— Increase of work safety, especially with work requi-

ring above-head vision— no disturbing LED pixel

LS160 | Efficiency

Modern light, great savings potentialWork in industrial environments means precise processes demanding the very best visual conditions for the human eye. When a company invests, this concerns not only productivity and functionality but also naked figures: maintenance, operating, energy costs. This applies to new systems, but also to the refurbishment of existing lighting solutions.

With an efficiency up to 158 lm/W, LS160 operates more than twice as efficient as its conventional predecessor, and with significantly improved quality of light. Pre-specified connection situations can be used with refurbishments. Optimized new connection points and a therefore reduced number of luminaires offer additional savings potential.

TCO comparative calculation – amortisation period

Simply less operating costs:amortisation = app. 2.2 yearsCompared to conventional highbay luminaires with T8 lamps, the LS160 already begins to earn money after 2.2 years upon reaching the amortisation time. The somewhat higher investment thus repays itself shortly after installation, the reason for this being the significantly higher efficiency of the LS160. The highbay luminaire simply has significantly lower operating costs than classic T8 solutions.

Basis for comparative calculation:

— T8 highbay with LLCG/LED highbay— Lighting specification according to EN 12464-1— Electrical industry, medium-fine assembly work Em = 500 lx, g1 = 0.6 Height of evaluation surface: 0.75 m— Room dimensions: 50 x 80 x 15 m— Reflection factor: 70/50/20 (ceiling/wall/floor)— Nominal indirect component— Colour rendering index: CRI 80— Mounting height: 12 m— 0.15 €/kWh, +3% increase/year— Observation period (system service life): 11 years

LS160 | Light Management

Sensors: the intelligent light managers

Not only the luminaire and its construction should be as efficient as possible, but the correct handling of light is also decisive. Intelligent light management provides light precisely according to requirements, and the most important components for this are Modario® sensor modules. These have a DALI interface (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) and together with DALI luminaire inserts ensure optimal control of light. The modules function as a DALI broadcast system or DALI addressable control system. Modario® sensor modules are suitable for rooms

with a high daylight component as well is for building sections not continuously frequented – for example production areas, workshops, warehouses, ancillary rooms and corridors.

The level of savings potential depends on:— the maintenance factor (DIN EN 12464-1)— hall usage (motion)— constructional conditions (ingress of daylight)

Maintenance value

Powerconsumption without luminous flux trackingLuminous flux tracking 1)

Initial situation:— continuous use of areas— no ingress of daylight— e.g. production halls, assembly halls

The lighting system is over-dimensioned with regard to a reduction in luminous flux to achieve the maintenance value at the end of the maintenance cycle. The luminaire is dimmed from the beginning though to achieve the pre-cise nominal illuminance. Advancing reduction in lumi-nous flux is continuously compensated for by increasing the power draw. The effect of this luminous flux tracking is that illuminance remains almost constant and energy consumption is optimised.

Presence detection2)

Initial situation:— non-continuous use of areas— no ingress of daylight— e.g. intermittently used storage areas

With sensors, the luminaire detects persons within a spe-cific range. It switches from dimmed orientation lighting up to the required work lighting level. When the detection range is exited, the luminaire dims again following a delay period (T).

Presence and daylight 3)

Initial situation:— non-continuous use of areas— ingress of daylight— e.g. storage areas and workshops

Daylight entering the space is used for lighting purposes. To ensure the required illuminance, the required quantity of artificial light is automatically supplemented when necessary, but only when people are in this area.

The level of savings potential depends on:

— the maintenance factor (EN 12464-1)

— hall usage (motion)

— constructional conditions (ingress of daylight) Designations in accordance with EnEV/DIN V 18599-4:1) Constant luminous flux control2) Presence sensors3) Daylight-dependent control

LS160 | Mounting

Simple mounting and high flexibility with installation

A single system and triple mounting benefits. The LS160 highbay luminaire has been designed in all ap-plications to save costs, effort and time and to simply func-tion, especially during mounting and installation. Smart detail solutions make the difference in typical high hall applications with many light and connection points.

The luminaire features three mounting options to optimally solve the most common installation situations on-site. The highbay luminaire thus offers precisely what's needed: convenience and high flexibility with installation.

Existing mounting and connection points from old systems can be used with a carabiner system and Y-chain: click the carabiner into the mounting points of the rail on the rear of the luminaire and then click into the existing chain suspension. The mounting height is simply adjusted correspondingly. When using a Y-wire, hook in on the luminaire side and hang in on the ceiling side (wire with closed loop).

Wire/chain suspension

The smart mounting system for ceiling fixing enables the LS160 highbay to be mounted simply, safely and quickly – by only one person (see on right).
