Sunken GardensThis natural oxbow in the basin of Antelope Creek was used in the early 1900’s as a neighborhood dumping site. The garden, built in 1930, was renovated in 2005 to include modern amenities including a new pavilion, art work and accessible walks. Brilliant flowering annuals, tropicals, perennials, specimen trees, shrubs and two living ponds filled with koi fish and water lilies are on display seasonally.

Union Plazaunion Plaza is a first of its kind six acre urban park. As part of a roadway and storm water improvement project of Antelope Valley, it offers more than 30 species of shrubs, 25 varieties of grasses and 80 different native perennials. There is a pollinator garden with an emphasis on milkweed and monarch habitat. Planting combinations include both naturalistic mixes of species and stylized prairie combina-tions, showing how native plants may be introduced into the more traditional landscape.
