EARLY MORNING SMALL GROUP HELPTeachers will begin pulling students for early morning small group instruction from 7 – 7:30. If your child rides a late run bus, the teacher may be calling you to arrange for an early morning session with your child so you can help by bringing him/her in on that day. We are looking for ways to help do some small group re-teaching on skills children have not mastered. Teachers will be working with students rather than doing bus duty. The leadership team is covering the bus duty post so teachers can use this time for their students. Students in the gym will be given AR reading time as well as being able to take test during this time. If your child reads at night he/she can come straight in and take the test in the gym. We have an I-pad station set up for students to use. If you are in a pinch one night your child can make up their reading

time in the gym in the mornings. We still want to encourage 20 min. each night at home but we understand things come up so we have this extra time in place for our students.

Dear Whitesville Dear WES Parents and Students,

It’s hard to believe that today is the 100th Day of School! This school year is passing fast and we are all looking forward to spring when we can enjoy more outside activities with our friends and families. We have some exciting times ahead of us including our Lighthouse review this Thursday to ensure we earn Lighthouse status as a Leader in Me School! We always want to do our best and set our goals high including classroom goals, MAP testing, KPREP testing, or AR goals. So, we are continuing this week with Habit 2. It’s super important to remember that in order to do our best on all these exciting events we must set goals, work hard, and follow through in order to be successful!

Thank you, Jeremy ColeGuidance Counselor

Habit 2 - Begin with the End in MindThis habit focuses on the idea that to be effective, we need to consider our options and choices before we act. It also says that we must first have a plan and then work towards those goals that we set for ourselves. The students have demonstrated this habit already this year by working hard to achieve AR goals, making good grades, and doing their best on their fall and winter MAP tests. The 2nd habit also says that we must look at the big picture and think about our college and career goals. Students Begin with the End in Mind by visiting places like UK, the OCTC campus, WKU, WKU Owensboro, KWC, and Brescia University where they can imagine themselves going to a college after high school and then achieving their career goals.

So parents, ask your kids what they are learning about the 7 Habits. Ask them what it means to Begin with the End in Mind. Remember that if we have an end in mind, we may have to achieve smaller goals every day such as finishing our homework, practicing for basketball or volleyball games, studying for
