LinkedIn Mastery In 20 Minutes Per Day

Everyone can find 20 minutes in a day to engage and build network and relationships on LinkedIn - make it your routine as you use

bathroom every morning you wake up to groom yourself.

1. Accept connection requests and send welcome messages

One of the first tasks you should do each day on LinkedIn is to review and accept any new connection requests – and do not discriminate, as you don’t know to whom the person is connected now, or to whom it will in the future, because, he/she will be meeting new people and adding them to their network - and those new people automatically became your second degree connection instantly.

My thought behind connecting on LinkedIn is to be not judgmental and accept everyone, but I do social media marketing and I have clients even from Australia. If you have a location based business, you might be more focused, but don’t stress out to connect with people outside of your geographical area.

Become LION - LinkedIn Open Networker and accept all the invites, you never know when the next idea, income stream might come from.

As well every day send 20-50 targeted invites to 2nd and 3rd degree connections.

After you accept a connection request or they accept yours, take another minute or two to thank the person for connecting and perhaps comment on something in their profile or information they shared in a post.

Don’t forget to personalize your messages, ensuring it is relevant to the receiver.

2. Reply to messages

The next key task to include in your LinkedIn marketing is to review and reply to any new messages you have received. If you are doing this daily, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes at most.It is through these conversations that you will build relationships and get to know your network.

Be interested. Ask questions. Add value.A word of caution: while LinkedIn message area resembles those of other instant messaging platforms, be professional but as well personable, you are talking after all to another human being.

3. Post a status update

Stay top of mind with your network and build your authority on your topic by taking time to post a status update every day or if time allows more 2 times.

Keep in mind that what you consider high-value and what your prospects believe is high-value may be different.

High-value content that inspires engagement should be:• educational• solution-based• relevant• non-promotional• engaging and/or entertaining

The types of content you post could include how-to’s, thoughts, insights, stories, tips, etc.

If you have your own blog, post a LinkedIn update, sharing your blog post to get more viewers to your content.

You can also share interesting content from others. Curating and sharing content from others is beneficial to you because:

• sharing information interesting or helpful to your network allows you to stay top of mind with your network and continue building trust

• when you add your perspective, you create more opportunities for discussion and engagement with your network

• it is more efficient and can save you time.

Sample of posts sharing and promoting my connections. First, I took a screenshot on my cellphone, cropped it and posted with small description about Audrey which I took from her profile.

Second one, I just shared a link from Kasia’s post and tagged her in my update so she could see that I shared.

4. Respond to engagement

It is essential you take a couple of minutes each day to respond to any engagement you get on your LinkedIn status updates or comments.Engagement is an essential part of the networking and relationship-building process.

When one of your connections reads and engages with your content or status update, it is crucial you respond to them.

At the beginning might be very hard as nobody will be commenting. I started by simply saying thank you to everyone who even liked my post and then try to get them involve in a conversation. Look sample below:

Start by reviewing your notifications.  This will show you all the people who have engaged with your content, followed you, liked your updates or taken any other action involving you on LinkedIn.

You can then look for opportunities to connect with them, reply to their comments or begin private conversations with them when it makes sense.

You can also go to your LinkedIn Activity page. Here, you can see who has interacted with your status updates and LinkedIn Publisher posts and reply to them as appropriate.

Expand your LinkedIn network

If a person not in your network positively comments or shares your status update or content, send them a connection request.

In your connection request, mention the content they engaged with and let them know you are grateful for their engagement.

5. Engage with others' content

Networking on LinkedIn, or anywhere for that matter, is not a one-way conversation or effort. It is important you dedicate a few minutes each day to engage with the content or status updates of your connections.

This can be as easy as scrolling through your newsfeed each day to find a few posts you can like, comment on or share. If there is a particular connection you wish to build a relationship with, check out their activity page to find their recent status updates and Publisher posts so you can engage with them.
