    WORDS OF INSTITUTION

The Lord Jesus, the same night he was betrayed,

took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it

    [The breaking of the bread.]

and gave it to them, saying,“Take, eat; this is my body which is

given for you:do this in remembrance of me.”

    [Lifting the cup:]

After the same manner also, he took the cup

when they had supped, saying, “This cup is the new testament

in my blood:this do, as often as you drink it,

    in remembrance of me.”

SHARING OF THE BREAD AND THE CUP

    [As the bread is distributed:]

The bread which we break is the communion of the body of Christ.

    [As the cup is distributed:]

The cup of blessing which we bless is the communion of the blood of Christ.
