The market requires that all vendors comply with standards of professionalism that promote open communication, mutual respect and the best interests of the market. Disruptive actions or remarks that undermine the shared success of any or all of our community of vendors are unprofessional and unacceptable. Failure to comply with these standards could result in suspension or removal from the market. Each vendor participating in the market shall be responsible for any loss, personal injury and/or damage that may occur as a result of the vendor’s actions and agrees to hold harmless The Village Green from any losses, damages, claims, suits or actions, judgments and attorney fees. Policies and Set Up Information We ask that vendors abide by the following All produce/vegetables sold at The Village Green locally grown market to be grown by the vendor, represented by themselves in person, or by a family member or paid employee. All meat sold at The Village Green locally grown market to be locally raised by the vendor. Meat vendors must provide The Village Green a copy of their meat handler’s license and permit for the sale of meat obtained by the county health department with this agreement, AND keep a copy of both of the licenses with them at the market. All value-added products sold at The Village Green locally grown market to be locally made by the vendor. Any processed food items (for example: jams, jellies, pickles, bread or baked goods, etc.) MUST be prepared in a certified kitchen. All vendors of value-added and prepared food products must meet all Federal, State and County guidelines pertaining to the preparation and sale of their products. No “low-acid” canned foods such as green beans, corn, peas, carrots, etc. may be sold. No buying and reselling of produce or other products are allowed. The market supports vendors who endeavor to grow organic. Vendors who advertise as “organic” need to provide proof of official certification as such and can expect a site visit to verify their growing/producing is organic. Vendors must be within a 75 mile radius of The Village Green. * Contact one of NCDA’s compliance officers at 919 733 7366 or visit their website: www.agr.state.nc.us/fooddrug/food/homebiz.htm to learn more on how to certify your kitchen. Please note the following instructions for basic set up The Village Green locally grown market Summer Season 2019 is every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., rain or shine, May 22 through September 4 at The Village Green Commons on Frank Allen Road in Cashiers. Set up is from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Please be prompt to ensure all vendors have a space and are ready to sell at 2:00 p.m. You are welcome to arrive/unload before 1 p.m. but please do not set up to sell before 2:00 p.m. The Village Green will provide space within the pavilion of The Village Green Commons each week. Vendors should bring their own table and chairs. Season vendors (those who paid the entire season fee in advance) are entitled to a designated space. Please contact The Village Green by no later than the Monday before the market if you will be absent. Failure to notify may result in the loss of the privilege of a designated space. Weekly vendors who attend the market on a week by week basis do not have a designated space. These vendors’ spaces are on a first come, first serve basis. Additional space may be made available to vendors who reserve the space by paying the entire season fee for the space in advance; these vendors are also guaranteed the same designated space every week during the market.

Please unload and then park in parking spaces designated by The Village Green. Parking is limited, so please park in the events lot adjacent to the Commons.. We want to provide customers with ample parking to shop at the market. No vehicles allowed on any grass area within The Village Green. No smoking in The Village Green Commons area. Sellers should not move their vehicles in or out of the market area during times when such movement would pose a danger to people in the shopping area. For this reason, please plan to stay for the entire duration of the market hours and do not pack up to leave early. Children are the next generation of locavores and are welcome to attend the market with parent/guardian vendors; within the actual vendor/market sales area children should remain next to and under adult supervision. Each vendor is responsible for safety and cleaning up the area around their vehicle and space. The Village Green locally grown market committee operates the market. The committee reserves the right to interpret the Market Rules and to modify them as needed for the market’s operation. If questions arise about any produce sold, a member of the Farmers Market committee may visit the seller and farm involved.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES RELATED TO COVID-19

Vendors must set up between 1:00-1:45 p.m. No sales before 2:00 p.m. Vendors will be set up with taped off booth designations, spaced according to physical distancing guidelines. Vendors who sign up for the season secure their booth location for the duration of the weekly market. Maps will be made for customers to easily identify and locate vendors. Vendors will be required to wear a mask or face shield at all times and to have hand sanitizer to use between transactions. Vendors should plan to encourage safe distancing. Market will provide a handwashing station, in addition to restrooms. Customers will be required to use masks and gloves to shop. Market will provide gloves and masks for customers who do not come prepared. Market reserves the right to limit the number of customers per the current phase guidelines, if it is deemed too crowded for safe distancing.

• To prevent cross-contamination, we discourage the use of samples. Market encourages vendors to consider pre-packaging items when possible. Market encourages the use of disposable table coverings. Market encourages electronic payment (Square, Venmo, PayPal, etc.). The Village Green now has public access WiFi available. No member of the market staff or market vendors will not be allowed to attend if they are experiencing illness. Customers are informed to stay home if they are experiencing illness. The Village Green may implement additional guidelines per the county and state officials directing the efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and promote the safety and wellbeing of everyone.

We appreciate everyone complying to the policies set forth above. While this may seem extreme, we are exercising an abundance of caution to protect the health and wellness of our community.
