POBAIL LE CHÉILEThe winners of the Manus McClafferty Memorial School Art Competition in Scoil Náisiunta Gort a’ Choirce were as follows: Junior/ Senior Infants: Peadar Mac Tharlaigh, Eimear Níc Fhlaitheartaigh, James Martin De Faoite, 1st/2nd/3rd Class: Elianne Ní Pháidín, Iarla Ó Ceallaigh, Caoimhín Ó Gallchóir, 4th/5th/6th Class: Kaci Scot, Róisín níc Gabhann, Damien Ó Canainn. Representing Pobail Le Chéile, Rosemary Grain gave a talk to the school about Manus’ life. She spoke about his activities as an amateur ‘ham’ radio enthusiast and his friendship with a Russian Cosmonaut. The students also heard about Manus’ volunteerism, kindness and community spirit and how Pobail Le Chéile established an annual volunteer award in his name. Pobail Le Chéile would like to thank Scoil Náisiunta, Special Days, Kim Sharkey and Malachy Doyle for their support of this year’s art competition to remember Manus. The winner of the 2019 Manus McClafferty Memorial Volunteer Award was Sharon O’Brien. As a member of the Falcarragh Parish Development Committee, Sharon has made a huge impact on her local community.

CILL ULTA ~ GARDENING IN MARCH (WORKSHOP)
On Friday the 1st of March The Glasshouses in Cill Ulta will be kicking-off a series of monthly gardening workshops which will continue throughout the year. Each session will run from 10am to1pm on the first Friday of the month, €5 per person. The workshop will take a look at what to do in the garden over the coming weeks. There will be tips on best practice and guidance on when to do what in order to stay up to date with all your seasonal gardening jobs.
