It turns out our collective addiction to smart-phones enables us to be connected to information anywhere, anytime.

L’Oréal Educate offers a unique educational experience allowing students to access their education material and resources while being socially connected to their peers. The future of education is moving towards a self organised learning environment philosophy, which unlike traditional education, embraces many learning styles and fosters meaningful engagement through deeper social interaction. Opening new channels to knowledge, specifically through technology. The L’Oréal Educate Application enables the collaboration and collation of acquired knowledge built on the foundation of inspiration and encouragement as the basis of learning.

Educational Experience

The application promotes the sharing of images, video and article type content produced within the community and L’Oréal. The focus of this content is to enable an educational ‘back channel’ to enhance and promote existing professional development opportunities.

Users of the application are be able to create and upload content via a mobile device. Create tags and meta data for the content where needed, along with sharing that content with others via the application.

Students and retailers can review and comment on content shared with others in the community. A user will have the opportunity to engage in an active professional community which promotes a rewards system (e.g. provide positive ‘likes’ ratings to content). The student and retailer can search for existing content (contributor, data, time, tags etc), delete existing content that they themselves have uploaded. The student and retailer have access to L’Oréal education features that will enhance the learning experience.

Content can be uploaded and split into‘user’ created content and ‘L’Oréal’s material.

User created content includes pictures and videos taken by the users (on location or uploading from their device camera roll). Portfolios’ are user specific collections, grouping all content created plus content marked as ‘favorite’ by the user and is displayed in a time-line along with tips and techniques and articles provided by community members.

L’Oréal content reinforces brand messages, education standards and inspiration across the community. Diagnostic tools, connection with existing training, professional development classes, news, events, tips and techniques and product libraries.

Students and retailers are able favorite any piece of content or user. Students and retailers are able to interact with any piece of content in four different ways. 1. Make a comment. 2. A text field with meta data (date, time, account name) Promote with a ‘Like’. A toggle on or off. 3. Mark as a Favorite. 4. Add reference to the content to a Portfolio owned by the Students.

Students and retailers are able to interact with other users in the community in three different ways: 1. Review profile, showing shared content, shared portfolios and current user meta data (reward mechanics, contributions) 2. Mark as a Favorite (effectively a ‘Follow’ option) 3. Add reference to the other user to a Portfolio owned by the user.

Reward metrics are recorded by a number of ‘Likes’ attached to each piece of content, which is then aggregated to the user account.

World of L’Oréal

The World of L’Oréal enables students and retailers to learn about the L’Oréal story. This section features information that is split into elegant sliders and a beautifully designed menu.

The content can be a combination of photos, videos and text specifically styled via an easy to use editor.

Products & Techniques

The list of new exciting techniques are featured in an elegant tiled arrangement, allowing users to navigate visually through the content. This also promotes the professional aspect of the application.

The Product section is an interactive product encyclopedia that visually represents the L’Oréal collections.

This is a unique section where the content for the new techniques and products can be loaded through the Conent Management System.

Get Inspired

Get Inspired aims to promote engaging images, videos and techniques to the community. The interface is visually appealing an allows for students and retailers to easily navigate through inspirational content.

Once a user has found an item of interest, they are able to view more details, view additional information via an external link, add it to their personal portfolio or share it to other social media platforms.

All of the content would be tagged and searchable. Which makes Portfolios more valuable as a tool rather than a storage point.

This is a unique section where the content for the inspirational items can be loaded through the Conent Management System.

Runway | Portfolio

Creating a profile will allow users to share knowledge, experience and professional tips through their Portfolio.

A social community where students and retailers are able to follow one another, comment on their peers Portfolios and share content such as photos, videos, techniques and tips.

The Runway or Portfolio can be seen as a tool where an artist or Professional Consultant pulls together inspiration and resources that ‘show their workings’ as they move toward the completion of an education module or simply share their recently learnt expertise.

Runways enhance engagement by being able to visit individual Runways created by Professional Consultants. Customers purchasing decisions are driven towards the experts and thereby motivating participation across all levels of education.

This section of the application is user content driven. The students has the ability to update their details, add a profile, cover picture and create or edit their own Portfolios. While also being able to track statistics, such as followers, comments and Portfolio ‘Likes’.

Activity Feed

Allowing students and retailer the ability to follow each other and creating value to the social community. Enabling users to keep up to date with their peers they follow. Giving them the ability to see when Portfolios have been created or additional content added.

Diagnostic

The Diagnostic section of the application is a fabulous tool that can be utilised by the Consultant at the point of sale. Using the Diagnostic feature enables the students and retailers the abilty to identify with the customers needs. At the end of the diagnosis, the application is able to determine the appropriate product collection.

The benefits of accessing this tool within the workplace professionally will enhance the customer experience. When users look for inspiration and connect with the social community, they will associate the application with a place to share content with others.

Calendar & Booking

The Calendar displays all events, talks and speciality education sessions. They are also displayed when they available throughout the year. Users have quick and easy access to the localised delivery dates which enables them to plan their education journey.

The Booking Form enables L’Oréal to take bookings to events, talks and speciality education sessions. Once filled out, the booking form is sent to the bookings manager. This enables users to book a online while previewing courses or events within the L’Oréal Application.

A unique Education experience delivered straight to the students own personal smart-phone, tablet or via the web.

Students can now rock up to a training course using the one tool they carry 24/7, their smart-phone. The concept is simple, to access a course the student selects the course that they are attending and acknowledge their attendance by scanning the unique course QR code or passcode.

Scanning the QR code / passcode unlocks the course content supplied by L’Oréal. This enables the student to access course information and modules, create their own personal notes where they can add photos, make comments, draw illustrations and complete the assessments.

Drag & Drop enables a student to drag photos, notes, answers or supplied images on to their course notes. The benefits to the Drag & Drop feature within the workbook allows for user interaction through an easy and quick solution in dragging content or answers to the appropriate section, reducing the amount of keypad typing required.

To make life simple, pre-defined icons within Drag & Drop, like professional tools, can be accessed and ‘pinned’ to course notes. This limits the amount of effort required for a user to explain techniques or the tools needed to achieve specific looks.

Scribble Pad

The Scribble Pad enables a student to handwrite notes and add comments to photos or illustrations by using the touch functionality or with a stylus. This allows the freedom to create illustrations, mark head-sheets, circle and highlight answers with in the course.

Photo Taking & Camera Roll

The Camera feature takes advantage of the device’s in-built camera. Students are able to take photos at any stage during the course and insert them into their workbook. This enables the ability to capture and document class or group activities.

The Camera Roll stores all of the users photos in their selected Portfolio for easy access. The user has the ability to enter their personal Camera Roll on their mobile device and import photos into the application. Once a photo has been selected, the user has the ability to Drag & Drop the photo onto their workbook.

On Screen Notes

The Note Pad within the L’Oréal Application is a simple text-only editor that provides users use of the device keypad. All of the students notes are stored within the course and on the page on which the notes were taken.

Once a student has added in a note, they can collapse the note to just display the note heading. These notes can also be dragged to any place on the page. Collapsed notes can be expanded to reveal the note details.

Assessments & Feedback

Each course has the ability to feature an assessment or quiz so the student can test their knowledge on the course content. This is a great way to get instant verification of the learning module.

These assessments or quizzes can be placed at any stage within a course module. Once a student has answered a question, they get instant feedback of their results.
