R E B E C C A H O S S A C KInternational art dealer and gallerist Rebecca Hossack was an early pioneer and champion of the area. She opened her first gallery on W1’s Windmill Street following her arrival from Melbourne in 1988. Attracted to what she recognised as Fitzrovia’s ‘antipodean atmosphere’, Rebecca has since made this part of town a base for her activities, opening two further gallery sites and even setting up home nearby.

American Singer-songwriter who made his London debut at the King & Queen

pub on Foley Street in 1962.

Renowned naturalist, biologist, geologist and one of the founding fathers of

evolution by means of natural selection. Lived on Gower Street between 1838-

1842 following the Beagle voyage.

Suffolk-born landscape painter, Royal Academician and artist behind

The Hay Wain (1821). Lived at 76 Charlotte Street.
