lonerism

Lonerism – Digipak Analysis I have decided to analyse the album ‘Lonerism’ by the band Tame Impala. Tame Impala are a psychedelic rock band from Australia. I think the image for the front cover has been cleverly thought out so that it is relevant to the album name. The image is from the perspective of someone looking through a fence and seeing lots of people. The people include families sitting down and enjoying a picnic and also people just relaxing on the grass. However the person is on the other side of this fence and the fence is acting as a barrier between them and the social world that lies on the other side. This is why the album is called Lonerism (being a loner/alone). The name of the band is clearly displayed in the top left corner of the album so it is obvious who the album is by and what the album is called. The back of the album, shoes a picture of what looks like Tame Impala’s rehearsal room, which is full of equipment. Also, sticking to the ‘lonely’ theme, we can see the lead singer laid on the floor in the room on his own. The names and numbers of the tracks are clearly on display and there is also some details of the record company ‘Modular’ who released the album. Lastly the disc has a picture of what looks like a long endless path leading into the woods. This once again is sticking with the theme of being lonely which I think is really clever. It also has one last reference to the band name and the name of the album just to remind the listener one last time before it is played.

Lonerism – Digipak Analysis

I have decided to analyse the album

‘Lonerism’ by the band Tame Impala. Tame

Impala are a psychedelic rock band from

Australia.

I think the image for the front cover has been

cleverly thought out so that it is relevant to

the album name. The image is from the

perspective of someone looking through a

fence and seeing lots of people. The people

include families sitting down and enjoying a

picnic and also people just relaxing on the grass. However the person is on the other side of

this fence and the fence is acting as a barrier between them and the social world that lies on

the other side. This is why the album is called Lonerism (being a loner/alone).

The name of the band is clearly displayed in the top left corner of the album so it is obvious

who the album is by and what the album is called.

The back of the album, shoes a picture

of what looks like Tame Impala’s

rehearsal room, which is full of

equipment. Also, sticking to the ‘lonely’

theme, we can see the lead singer laid

on the floor in the room on his own. The

names and numbers of the tracks are

clearly on display and there is also some

details of the record company ‘Modular’

who released the album.

Lastly the disc has a picture of what looks like a long

endless path leading into the woods. This once again

is sticking with the theme of being lonely which I

think is really clever. It also has one last reference to

the band name and the name of the album just to

remind the listener one last time before it is played.
