We had a great time, watching Cudal Public’s production of Mulan and hosting the CWA ladies for a special assembly. Year 3 and 5 participated in the NAPLAN School Readiness Test. This week has been just as exciting, with transition visiting on Tuesday and our relay runners competing at Western tomorrow. If you have any questions or inquiries please phone the office on 02 6364 3093 or see a staff member to make an appointment. Just a reminder that Mandy is only available in the Office on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning and Thursday. If you are trying to contact the school out of these times, please leave a message. *Remember to check out our fortnightly newsletter as well as the Facebook page for any upcoming events. We welcome you to visit the school anytime. Rebecca Joyce Acting Relieving Principal A message from our 2019 School Leaders Leader: Kayla Price We went to see Mulan and it was very entertaining. Will, Josh, Ericka and I went to Canowindra High for our first orientation day. We met lots of new friends and had fun! Year 5/6 – Miss Joyce The 5/6 students spent last week participating in team- building STEM activities. These activities improved problem solving and social skills and linked to the Science and Technology syllabus. Year 3/4 - Miss Horan 3/4 have been continuing on with their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory unit. They have almost finished reading the story and will participate in more scrumptious activities throughout the next few weeks. Kindergarten/Year1 – Miss Pearce This week the K/1 class have been busy in music singing tunes, using their body to create rhythms and keep to the beat, and practicing with the percussion instruments. Transition The Transition students were busy learning through play, working on improving their social skills, such as turn taking and sharing. They made airplanes out of

connector blocks and drew each other on the white boards. Cooking Last week in cooking students made Zucchini Mac and Cheese and Lemon Slice. This week we munched on some delicious Vegetable Nuggets and Custard Worm Farms. *Just a reminder that if you haven’t paid Term 3 cooking fees please do so ASAP.

Kindergarten Orientation Kindergarten Orientation will commence at the end of Term 3 with Kindergarten students for 2020 attending from 9-11.30am on Wednesdays for Week 9 and 10. Throughout Term 4, students will be invited to attend full days. More details regarding the full days will be sent home in Week 10. If you know of anyone in our area that is interested in attending Cargo PS in 2020 please encourage them to contact the school.

CWA Country of Study Competition Over the last few weeks students have been completing their CWA Country of Study – Papua New Guinea projects. The projects were sent off to Canowindra to be judged last week and the ladies from the CWA came to present 8 awards at our special assembly last week. Congratulations to all students for producing such incredible projects and artworks.

Mulan Excursion Cudal Public School put on a fantastic production of Mulan last week. Cargo students love the colourful costumes and artworks that lined the Cudal Hall.

Lake Burrendong Excursion In Week 3 of Term 4 we will be having a whole school excursion to Lake Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre. We will leave school on Monday 28th October and return on Tuesday 29th October. This is a whole school event with all staff attending the excursion. Lake Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre offers a variety of activities for students to participate in. The planned activities will provide students and parents with the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of a range of school procedures and experiences. Throughout this program, students will begin building knowledge of their new environment and develop positive relationships with Canowindra High School staff and students.

OSSA Spectacular Students have been busy rehearsing their dances for the OSSA Spectacular coming up in November. All schools involved will have a rehearsal day at Orange Civic Theatre on Wednesday 16th October (more details to follow).

Western Region Athletics The Western Region Athletics Carnival will be held tomorrow in Dubbo. We have 5 students from Cargo Public School representing the Orange district. Our school PP5 Relay team made up of Kayla, Lylah, Josh and Will; Alyssa in the OSSA White Junior Girls relay team and Will is also competing in the Senior Boys Discus. We wish them all the best and congratulate them on the effort they have put in to this point.

Wiradjuri Incursion Wiradjuri artist, Darren will be visiting the school next Wednesday to talk to the children about Wiradjuri culture and do a boomerang display. Children will be participating in a range of cultural activities. Art Assembly With all the local country shows happening this term, students at Cargo have created some amazing artworks which they’d like to show off to parents and the local community. More information will be coming out in the next few weeks. Presentation Night Date Cargo Public School Presentation Night has been set for Tuesday 3rd December at 6pm. Trail Riding

Well known Eugowra local Bill Norris along with his wife Mary, his sister Julie and her husband Mark Riley, have teamed up to bring this exciting trail riding experience to the Central West of NSW.

Event Management We have a new family back in Cargo and they are doing some exciting event management/ planning. Joshua Roy and Genesa Springer have children in our transition group and have recently returned from Sydney. If you have any events needing organising or catering, please see Genesa opposite the shop.
