The Los Angeles Fine Art Show will feature a

rich blend of premier Historic and Contemporary Art.

Unique in the art fair world, dealers from around the

globe will converge at the Los Angeles Convention Center

to share their exceptional variety of fine and decorative art

spanning all styles and centuries with serious collectors,

interior designers, and museum curators. Twenty years

ago, the Los Angeles Fine Art Show was created as a

regional show, reflecting the city’s evolving nature.

The Los Angeles Fine Art Show continues that tradition

offering an extraordinary range of genres from 18th

Century European Paintings to Contemporary Realism,

from California Plein Air to American Regionalism. This

year, The Los Angeles Fine Art Show is dedicated solely

to historic and contemporary art. By dividing the LA Art

Show into two distinct fairs, we have been able to focus

gallery selection, programming, and special exhibitions to

appeal to a targeted collector base. The Los Angeles Fine

Art Show has presented varied yet, complimentary genres,

and celebrated artists who continue to work in respected

regional styles. The exhibiting galleries have been curated

to meet the tastes of collectors and enthusiasts with not

only historic, but also contemporary artwork of highly

esteemed exhibitors from each category.

6 WELCOME LETTER

Whether you are a seasoned collector or merely an admirer of the arts, we are certain that the LA Art Show will provide you with a special experience in the world of Modern, Contemporary, Historic and Traditional Art. We have created the most diverse Art Show in the world.

The Modern and Contemporary galleries of the LA ART SHOW represent the present and future of Art and Art Collecting. The “Old Masters” were the upstarts of their time period and a few of today’s artists are sure to be the Old Masters of the future. Art has always been at the forefront of society, bravely going where others feared to tread, whether it was the use of color, texture, composition or materials, artists have always pushed the envelope. It takes a discerning eye and measure of courage to embrace and appreciate the new and the different, and today’s collectors are a brave and appreciative crowd.

A show of this magnitude requires coordinated efforts from a myriad of people, and I wish to thank my entire team, whose dedication and hard work made this show possible. I am grateful to all our new participants and to the many great galleries that return each year who travel here so that we may enjoy their spectacular works of art.

The LA Art Show is proud to serve as a vehicle for today’s artist to be showcased and displayed. We are pleased to provide our guests with the opportunity to enjoy a unique assortment of creative expression from all corners of the globe. I am proud to welcome you to the 20th edition of the LA Art Show and to celebrate the fertile efforts of the human mind. Enjoy the Show!

Art collectors come in many forms and with varied tastes. Some, like me, collect it all,

irrespective of genre, others are purists who concentrate their efforts in a particular

direction. Whatever your style, we welcome you to the new Los Angeles Fine Art Show,

based on the original blueprint for the LA Art Show, with a clear focus on Historic and

Traditional Contemporary works. This is a place to celebrate the progression of art

through the centuries that deserves its own presence, marketing, and following.

Respect for impeccable technique and luxurious application of material is the hallmark

of the galleries represented at this fair. Although we take some pride in the fact that we

are the only major fair dedicated to this segment of the gallery world, we hope that we

are joined by others in time.

I wish to also extend my gratitude to the team that helps make this dream a reality by

putting in countless hours, thus making for many long days.Enjoy your 2016 experience

and we look forward to traveling together, on our new path, through art’s history and

into the future.

Sincerely,

Kim MartindaleProducer/PartnerLos Angeles Fine Art Show

Native Art Speaks. Get the Message. An Exhibition of Contemporary Native American Art brings six Native American artists to the attention of the art world and its esteemed patrons. Focused on innovation, these cutting edge creators take their respective mediums in unexplored directions from graffiti inspired paintings that blend swirling fields of color, elements of nature, and indiscriminate iconic images successfully in single compositions on canvas to elegant blown and hot sculpted glass forms with sand carved motifs of Pacific Northwest Coast origin. Recently, Native American artists have shattered pre-conceived notions of what defines Native American Art, challenging critics and collectors around the world to re-define their understanding of contemporary Native American art. This extraordinary exhibit will keep you abreast of new trends in the Native American art scene, and introduce you to sensational artists whom are the expressive voices of today.

Dear Arts Enthusiast,

On behalf of the Staff, Board of Directors and Artists of the Los Angeles Art Association (LAAA), please allow me to welcome you to the 2016 Los Angeles Fine Art Show. As I reflect on a new year, I’m proud of LAAA’s 90-year role in the formation of Los Angeles’ arts community. Today, I remain committed to our ongoing mission of providing emerging artists with the experience, education and exposure needed to create and sustain careers in the arts. Our unique status as a non-profit organization provides us with the flexibility for risk-taking beyond what is possible in the commercial gallery system, thereby positioning the organization as a driver of innovative, contemporary content in Los Angeles. As THE place for emerging art in Los Angeles, LAAA serves as both a feeder resource for the larger art community and a highly visible platform that fosters greater awareness for exciting, emerging artists.

Mindful of the huge impact that emerging artists make to all aspects of our shared quality of life, LAAA believes that emerging artists, even the most non-traditional talents, require access to a professional exhibition space and the career support to expand and realize their singular artistic visions. The successes and expanded services we provide to local artists and art advocates address important needs not confronted by most civic and cultural agencies. By filling this need LAAA has developed into an essential resource for Los Angeles’ emerging artists. In 2015 alone, LAAA expanded our mission in the following ways to meet the needs of local artists:

• LAAA served over 500 artists of all media, provided 36 scholarships to economically challenged artists, presented 27 exhibitions at Gallery 825, 10 offsite exhibitions, 5 full-day artists training, 48 artists critique groups and 8 artists talks.

• LAAA exhibited at many national art fairs and exhibitions including The 2015 LA Art Show, The Palm Springs Fine Art Fair, StartUp Art Fair San Francisco, The Beverly Hills Art Show, Photo LA and in Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach.

• Internationally, LAAA exhibited at Projektraum M54 in Basel, Switzerland during Art Basel.

• LAAA’s commitment to community outreach and serving all artists was demonstrated by our 8th annual Out There exhibit, celebrating Gay Pride Month.

• While LAAA has a lean, mission-driven staff, we enjoy the benefit of more than 1200 hours of annual volunteer service that greatly enhances our ability to operationalize our many services and events.

While our Contemporary Portrait exhibit at the Los Angeles Fine Art Show featuring the works of Yi-Mei Fan, Araks Johannes, Leslie Lanxinger, Rikki Niehaus and Tracy Vera is a highlight of our 2016 programming, I would like to extend a personal invitation for you to visit us throughout the year as we advance our mission with special exhibits and events. Please join us for exhibitions by Dwora Fried and Lisa McCord which continue through February 19 at Gallery 825 on La Cienega Boulevard. For more information on LAAA’s exhibitions and programming, please visit www.laaa.org or call us at 310.652.8272. Finally, a sincere nod of appreciation to Kim Martindale and his entire team for sharing the belief that emerging artists can and do make lasting impacts on the cultural and economic life of our shared community. Enjoy the Show!

This concept challenges me to render a work which addresses the ideas of our environment and the very current conversation of climate change. The work intends to create a large array of abstract biomorphic shapes and characters that interact with biomechanisms of an industrial origin. Modular shapes of mass production converse amidst micro-organisms and botanical forms, rhythmic interactions that perhaps orchestrate mans detrement to our surroundings while seeming musical. This concept , although universal and rhetorical intends to stimulate a dialogue between natures conflict with continuing mass consumption and disposal. giving way to beauty and forgiveness and regeneration. I intend to create this work live during the weeks events , open to questions, interactions and demonstration of my working process and inspiration. The large scale work with be created in a limited monochromatic palette with ink, acrylic, collage, and charcoal.
