Let us take you on a boat excursion on the Mekong River. Destination: the Wat Phou temple ruins.

The ancient Khmer temples of Wat Phou are located at the base of the “Phou Kao” mountain, some 6 km from the Mekong. The temples were built in the fifth centu-ry. The buildings and constructions which have been preserved to the present day date from the 11th to 13th centuries. Wat Phou was part of the Khmer empire, the centre of which was more to the south-west, in Angkor. The temple ruins have been inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage list since 2001.

The boat tour will take you from Pakse to Champasak within 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the River’s water le-vel. Along the way, you will take pleasure in contempla-ting the scenic beauty of the surroundings and bustling life on the River where fishermen earn their daily bread.

Whereas in Pakse, the Mekong is approx. 1.5 km wide, you will observe an ever more diverse landscape on our way south-west, particularly after about an hour, with the special charm of several tiny islands adding to the fasci-nation.

Wir laden Sie ein zu Bootstour auf dem Mekong. Unser Ziel sind die Tempelruinen von Wat Phu.

Wat Phu ist ein alter Khmer Tempel Komplex der am Fuß des Berges „Phu Kao“ ca. 6 km entfernt vom Mekong liegt. Die Tempelanlage wurde im 5. Jahrhundert errich-tet. Die noch erhaltenen Bauwerke datieren aus dem 11. bis 13. Jahrhundert. Wat Phu war Teil des Khmer Rei-ches, dessen Zentrum weiter südwestlich in Angkor lag. Die Anlage wurde im 2001 durch die UNESCO in die Lis-te des Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen.

Die Bootsfahrt führt Sie von Pakse in Richtung Champa-sak und dauert je nach Wasserstand ca. 1,5 bis 2 Stun-den. Unterwegs haben Sie Gelegenheit die abwechs-lungsreiche Natur zu betrachten und das Leben auf dem Fluß zu erleben. Beobachten Sie die Fischer bei ihrer täglichen Arbeit. Während der Mekong in Pakse noch ca. 1,5 KM breit ist wird die Landschaft auf unserer Fahrt nach Südwesten immer Abwechslungsreicher.

Auf dem letzten Drittel unserer Fahrt passieren wir zahl-reiche kleine Inseln die der Landschaft ihren besonderen Reiz verleihen.

Let us take you on a boat trip to the island of Don Kho. This island, only a few kilometers north of Pakse is well worth a visit.

You will gain insight into the traditional lives of the island’s inhabitants, who make a living from fishing, the cultivati-on of rice and vegetables and the production of traditio-nal handmade silk scarves. We will visit the local school and take a stroll around the island.

Our local guides will enable you to converse with the is-landers.

Let us accompany you on a excursion to the Mekong Falls. The magnificent Li Phi and Khon Phapeng falls rank among the major natural beauty spots in Southern Laos. They are the largest falls in Asia and the widest on the entire planet.

Over a width of about 10 km, the Mekong cascades about 20 meters down. We are taking you to both major falls, the Li Phi and Khon Phapeng Falls.

In colonial times, the French attempted to exploit the Mekong as a trading link between China and South-East Asia. Since the River does not allow shipping on this stretch, the construction of a railway was begun to over-come this natural hurdle. The line was never finished, however. We will visit the remnants of this construction as well as the locomotive that was to serve this line.

On our way back to Pakse, we plan a stop at Wat Phou Khao Geo. This convent with its impressive temple site, built on the flank of a mountain, also offers a splendid view on the scenery below.

Wir begleiten auf einem Ausflug zu den Mekongfällen, Li Phi und Khon Pha Pheng. Diese im Grenzgebiet zu Kambodscha liegenden Wasserfälle sind eine der größ-ten Attraktionen der Natur im Süden von Laos. Es sind die größten Wasserfälle Asiens.

Der Mekong fällt in mehreren Kaskaden auf einer Breite von nahezu 10 km um ca. 20 Meter. Damit sind diese Wasserfälle die breitesten der ganzen Erde. Wir besich-tigen die beiden Hauptfälle Li Phi und Khon Phapheng.

In der Kolonialzeit versuchten die Franzosen den Me-kong als Handelsverbindung zwischen China und Süd-ostasien zu nutzen. Da der Mekong in diesem Bereich nicht schiffbar ist, begann man mit dem Bau einer kurzen Eisenbahnstrecke, um dieses natürliche Hindernis zu überwinden. Die Strecke wurde jedoch niemals fertigge-stellt. Wir besichtigen die Reste dieses Bauwerks inklusi-ve der eigens dafür angeschafften Lokomotive.

Auf dem Rückweg nach Pakse stoppen wir bei Wat Phu Khao Geo. Dieses auf einem Berg gelegene Kloster bie-tet neben den wunderschönen Tempelbauten einen fan-tastischen Ausblick über die Landschaft.

Let us take you on a boat excursion to Don Det. Travel downstream comfortably by boat, enjoy the River’s ple-asant cool and let your gaze wander over the picturesque landscape.

Spend the night in selected hotels offering a magnificent view of the Mekong River. The early riser will experience an unforgettable sunrise. Our tour will take us to Cham-pasak where we will pay a visit to the Wat Phou temple, which has been inscribed on the UNESCO world herita-ge list since 2001.

In the late afternoon of the second day, we will reach the island of Don Khong, which we will explore during the evening hours. The third day of our tour will take us to the area of 4000 islands (Si Phan Don). The scenery here is unique and if we are lucky, we will be able to observe the rare Irawadi dolphins, the mermaids of the Mekong, in their natural habitat.

We will reach Don Det before lunch hour on the third day of our tour downstream. This is the ideal point of depar-ture to go and visit the waterfalls of Li Phi and Khone Phapheng.

In the afternoon of the third day, we travel back to Pakse. En route, we will stop to take a tour through the jungle on the back of an elephant. In the late evening, we will arrive back at our point of departure, Pakse.

Wir begleiten Sie auf einer Bootsfahrt nach Don Det. Rei-sen Sie auf bequeme Art mit dem Boot flussabwärts, ge-nießen die angenehme Kühle auf dem Fluss und lassen Sie die malerische Landschaft an sich vorbeiziehen.

Die Übernachtung erfolgt in ausgewählten Hotels mit ei-nem fantastischen Blick über den Mekong. Für Frühauf-steher bietet sich die Möglichkeit unvergessliche Son-nenaufgänge zu erleben. Unsere Fahrt führt uns vorbei an Champasak, wo wir den Tempel Wat Phu besichtigen, der im Jahr 2001 von der UNESCO in die Liste des Welt-kulturerbes aufgenommen wurde.

Am späten Nachmittag des zweiten Tages erreichen wir die Insel Don Khong, die Sie in den Abendstunden er-kunden können. Am dritten Tag unserer Reise passie-ren wir das Gebiet der 4000 Inseln (Si Phan Don). Neben einer einmaligen Landschaft haben Sie hier, mit etwas Glück, die Gelegenheiten den seltenen Irawadi Delphi-nen, den Meerjungfrauen des Mekong, zu begegnen und diese in Ihrer natürlichen Umgebung zu beobachten. Unsere Reise stromabwärts endet am Vormittag des dritten Tages in Don Det. Dies ist der ideale Ausgangs-punkt um die Wasserfälle Li Phi und Khone Phapheng zu besichtigen.

Am Nachmittag des dritten Tages treten wir die Rückreise nach Pakse an. Unterwegs stoppen wir, um einen Aus-flug auf dem Rücken eines Elefanten durch den Dschun-gel zu machen. In den späten Abendstunden erreichen wir den Ausgangspunkt unserer Reise, Pakse.

Let us take you on a guided tour to the Bolaven Plateau.We arrive at this plateau with its very own climatic condi-tions at about 30 km north-east of Pakse.

All year round, temperatures range from about to 25 to 29 degrees centigrade during the day and 17 to 19 degrees centigrade at night. It is substantially cooler compared to the towns and villages in the Mekong Delta. These clima-tic conditions allow for the cultivation of tea and coffee. The best Laotian Arabica variety highland coffee comes from here.

The area also offers some unique beauty spots, such as some of southern Laos’ most spectacular waterfalls. En-joy the pleasant cool of the highland and relaxation at the falls or take a dip in the shallow waters underneath the falls.

Das Plateau zeichnet sich durch seine besonderen kli-matischen Verhältnisse aus. Ganzjährig herrschen Ta-gestemperaturen von ca. 25 bis 29 Grad Celsius und Nachttemperaturen von 17 bis 19 Grad Celsius.In den Wintermonaten ist es durchaus möglich das die Nacht-temperaturen in den einstelligen Bereich abrutschen. Es ist deutlich kühler als in den Städten und Dörfern der Me-kongebene.

Das spezielle Klima ermöglicht es Tee und Kaffee an-zubauen. Von hier kommen einige der besten arabica Sorten in ganz Laos. Neben Kaffee- und Teeplantagen sind einige der spektakulärsten Wasserfälle, im Süden von Laos, in diesem Gebiet zu finden, echte Juwele der Natur. Experience the highlights of the south on one excursion. We start from Pakse.

Our first highlight is the Bolaven Plateau, with its very own climatic conditions, at about 30 km north-east of Pakse. The second part of our tour will take us upstream, by boat, from Pakse first to Champasak where we will pay a visit to the Wat Phou temple site, which was inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage list in 2001.

The boat also takes us into the area of 4000 islands be-fore we reach the Mekong Falls on the 7th day of our trip. You will experience unique and breathtaking scenery and spend the night at selected hotels that will allow full rela-xation in the most pleasant surroundings.

This tour will allow you to experience some unique na-tural beauty spots during your stay in the province of Champasak.

We will take you to three of the most spectacular falls in southern Laos. Along the way, you will gain insight in the lives of the local population. We will visit the Pha Suam, Tad Fan and Tad Yuang waterfalls. In the afternoon, we continue to Don Khong Island, where we will check-in at the hotel in the evening hours.

On the morning of the following day, we will observe and experience the 4000 isles of Si Phan Don before we ar-rive at Don Det to visit the Li Phi and Khone Phapeng waterfalls.

On the evening of the second day, we will return to our point of departure, Pakse.

Sie besuchen die Wasserfälle Pha Suam, Tad Fan und Tad Yueang. Am Nachmittag fahren wir nach Don Khong Island wo wir am Abend ins Hotel einchecken.

Am Morgen des nächsten Tages erleben wir auf einer Bootstour die Flusslandschaft Si Phan Don ( 4000 In-seln) bevor wir in Don Det ankommen um die Mekong-wasserfälle Li Phi und Khone Phapheng zu besichtigen.

On this tour, you will gain an understanding of what life is like in Laos. We start our tour at the border-crossing of Chong Megk, where we meet up at 9:00 am. An air-conditioned minibus will take us to Pakse. Along the way, we will stop to pay a visit to the Wat Phou Sa Lao temple site. The site is situated on a mountain on the western bank of the Mekong River. From there, you will enjoy a breathtaking view on the Mekong and over Pakse. You will then check-in at your hotel. After a short break, we will take you on an orientation tour through the city. We will then continue north and reach Ban Saphai about 30 minutes later. From the docks at Ban Saphai, we will start our excursion to Don Kho – a small island in the middle of the Mekong. Its inhabitants primarily live off fishing, the cultivation of rice and vegetables as well as the pro-duction of traditional silk scarves. We will visit the local school, and as we stroll around, we will see how these traditional silk scarves are woven by hand. We will then visit Wat Don Kho and explore the island on paths well shaded by luscious vegetation. We will then return to Pakse by boat. You will experience the diversity of the scenery and observe fishermen at work. After about an hour, we will reach the docks in Pakse and from there to the hotel. Transfer to the hotel by air conditioned mini-bus is optional. One stop along the way is Wat Chompet, where we will visit the temple site and see how stone-masons sculpture traditional stone Buddha’s by hand. After breakfast the following day, we will take you to one of the most picturesque waterfalls in southern Laos and visit the village of Ban Phasuam. Our tour ends with the transfer back to the Chong Megk border-crossing.

Der Ausflug startet am Grenzübergang in Chong Megk, wo wir uns 09.00 Uhr am Morgen mit Ihnen treffen. Im klimatisierten Kleinbus fahren wir mit Ihnen nach Pak-se. Auf dem Weg nach Pakse besichtigen Sie Wat Phou Sa Lao. Die Tempelanlage befindet sich auf einem Berg, am westlichen Ufer des Mekong und bietet einen fantas-tischen Blick auf den Mekong und Pakse. Anschließend checken Sie in Ihr Hotel ein. Nach einer kurzen Pause starten wir zu einer kurzen Orientierungsfahrt durch die Stadt und besichtigen das bunte Treiben auf dem Markt. Danach geht es weiter in nördlicher Richtung. Nach ei-ner ca. 30-minütigen Fahrt erreichen wir Ban Saphai. Von der dortigen Bootsanlegestelle starten wir unseren Ausflug nach Don Kho. Don Kho ist eine kleine Insel in der Mitte des Mekong. Die Bewohner verdienen Ihren Lebensunterhalt in erster Linie durch Fischerei, Reis und Gemüseanbau sowie durch die Herstellung von Seiden-tüchern in traditioneller Handarbeit. Wir besichtigen mit Ihnen die auf der Insel gelegenen Schule und schauen, auf unserem Spaziergang durch das Dorf, den jungen Laotinnen beim Weben von Seidentüchern zu. Zurück nach Pakse geht es mit dem Boot. Erleben Sie eine ab-wechslungsreiche Flusslandschaft und beobachten Sie die Fischer bei der Arbeit. Nach dem Frühstück am nächsten Morgen fahren wir mit Ihnen zu einem der schönsten Wasserfälle im Süden von Laos und besich-tigen das Dorf Ban Phasuam. Anschließend erfolgt der Transfer zum Grenzübergang Chong Megk.
