WORKSHOP ON ROBOTICS

A workshop on “Robotics” was organ-ized by the department on 29th and 30th of August 2016. Dr. S. Bhagavathi Perumal, the Vice Principal, inaugurated and deliv-ered the inaugural address. The resource people include Mr. R. P u r u s h o t h a m a n , trainer, EPR Labs, Chennai and Mr. Kapil Dev, System Engineer, Axis Global Institute of Industrial Training. The participants were exposed to a wide variety of robots such as BB Robot, Robotic Arm, Parallel Robot, Sprue Picker Robot, Vacuum Cleaning

The workshop also included the discussion on topics with demon-strations of Scrolling Display, Multimedia Speaker, etc.

GUEST LECTURES

1. Chellakumar of 2012-16 batch has successfully cleared the entire written, technical, physical, psychological and medical tests of SSC (Short Service Commission) Tech 47th batch to serve The Indian Army as an officer. With an AIR (All India Rank) of 14 in Electrical and Electronics stream. Following this he will undergo 11 months training at Officers Training Academy, Chennai from 30th September.

2. Varun C of 2009-13 batch has cleared the UPSC IAS Civil Services Preliminary Examination and got eligible for appearing in Mains Examination of 2016.

3. Mohamed Rasulini S., Karthick S., Mageshwaran R, and Azhaghudurai S. of final year have been selected by Mitsubhishi Electric India for presenting the project on “Fuel from Industrial Gaseous Waste” in ‘Mitsubishi Electric Cup’- National-level automation competition for students in India.

L. Umasankar, N. Hariharan and N. Kalaiarasi published the paper on “Solar Tracking System using Delta PLC” in the International Journal of Science Technology & Engineering, Volume 2, Issue 11, May 2016.

K. V. Bindu and B. Nagarani published the paper on “Three Winding Coupled Inductor Based Interleaved High Step up Converter” in the Journal of Advancements in Material Engineering, Vol. 1, Issue 1, May 2016.

J. Prakash published a paper on “Design of Coordinated Control Scheme for Hybrid Resonant Boost Converter and Multi Level Inverter” in Indian Journal of Science and Technology, Vol. 9(11), March 2016.

Rebeka Eunice Ruby S of III Year presented a paper titled “LIFI Technology” in the National Level Technical

Symposium STRIDERZ 2k16 at Jeppiaar Institute of Technology on 15th March 2016. Rebeka Eunice Ruby S of III Year presented a paper titled “Wireless Electrocardiogram” in the National

Level Technical Symposium ELECTROFOCUS 2k16 at Madras Institute of Technology on 26th March 2016.

Catherine T. J., and Ragavi B presented the paper titled “A Novel Equalization Technique for Optimal Func-tioning Of Photovoltaic Modules Under Shaded Conditions” in the International Conference on Recent Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICRTET-2016) held by St. Josephs Institute of Technology, Chen-nai, on 28th & 29th April 2016.

Catherine T. J., along with the final year students Ragavi B and Ramya M., presented the paper on “Single Switch Voltage Equalizer for Partially Shaded Photovoltaic Modules” in the International Conference on Futuristic Engineering , Science and Technology, (ICFEST 2016) held at Agni College of Technology , on 6th& 7th May 2016.

MINI PROJECT COMPETITION

The EEE Students’ Association and the IETE Students’ Chapter jointly organized mini project competition on 27.08.2016. A total of 21 teams of students participated in this competition which saw several innovative ideas like Ultrasonic speed and distance measuring instrument, Accident alert using global positioning module , Gas/smoke detector,Regenerative power, Earthquake detector, Laser Communication Power saver in residential areas, Traffic light control using Arduino controller etc.

In the final year category, Mr. P. Udayaraj, S. Gokul , KarthikS and Arunkumar A bagged I prize for the project of Laser Commu-nication Power saver in residential areas. The projects on Traffic light control using Arduino controller by Leela Prasad Reddy A , Udayaprabu E and Mageshwaran R and Combination lock with Microcontroller 8051 by Aniruthan B, Mohamed Rasulini S, Muthu Karthick K and Challa Sridatta Sai shared the second prize.

From third year, Maria Alwin Raja M, Vignesh M and Premnath S won the first prize for the project Homemade Table fan. The second prize was given to the project of Magnetic Braking by Ramamoorthi M, Kasikumaresan S, Magesh Babu V and Ajithku-mar M and third prize to the projects Laser Communication by Dinesh B, Balaji V, Mukesh V and Jagan M. and also to Ramya M ,Pasupuleti Gnapthi ,Reshma G C for the project of Water level indicator alarm.

From second year, Sai Sachin G ,Sethu Chidambaram M S ,Subash Chandra Bose V ,Tallapally Saideep won the first prize for the project Accident alert using global positioning module. The projects on Gas/smoke detector by Surya P,Vikash P and Su-rudhi Saagar S and Haptic glove by Barath M,Kumaresh V and Balasurya S shared the second prize. The third prize was won by Settipalli Rohithsai, Nasrudeen H, Thota Praveensai and Shyam M for the project of Security system.
