program ‘Fire Battling andRescue Techniques’ in Mahat-ma Gandhi Vidyalaya (MelonyRoad, T. Nagar) on July 28.

A team lead by R. Ravi-chandran (Station Fire Officer,T. Nagar) demonstrated sim-ple techniques to the studentsand school staff on how to con-trol domestic fire, handling offire extinguishers and also ex-plained safety measures to beimplemented at homes to pre-vent fire accidents.

They also demonstrated howto rescue persons trapped inhigher floors in case of fire in ahigh rise building.

Exnora Innovators Club (T. Nagar North) had conducted a residents’meet 3 months back in association with Bharati Nagar Civic Exnorato start its zero waste management project in Bharati Nagar and laterextend it to other parts of T. Nagar.

Exnora has proposed to commence the project after August 17.It will include:Source segregation: Distribution of SOP to all houses, distribution

of stickers / bins for implementing 3 bin system, streetwise training toresidents on source segregation, distribution of bins to collection staffand keeping 3 bins in every street.

Collection: Daily collection of organic waste, weekly collection ofresidual waste and recyclables and monthly collection of e-waste.

Disposal: Explore home composting in every house hold in BharathiNagar. Alternately dispose off organic waste in area allocated by theCorporation in T. Nagar. Setup a small vermi composting unit andexpand it into a bio-gas plant. Arrange with local traders to collect allrecyclables and handover all non-disposable waste to Corporation foruse in landfills.

Exnora has appealed to the residents of Bharati Nagar to cooperatewith its members in making the zero waste pilot project a success sothat it can be extended to other parts of T. Nagar and to other suburbsof the city.

were thrown off the vehicle. All thethree sustained minor injuries.

The youth were so drunk that theyalmost went into a stupor after fallingoff their bikes.

After getting alerted by passersby,police personnel and a 108 ambulancereached the spot and gave the injuredfirst aid.

A case of drunken and rash drivingwas booked against the bike rider. Theywere later fined and let off with a warn-ing.
