Jones, Latisha Gay, Mac Petersen, Addison Gay, Claire Logan and Zebb Nield. This is the first time for many years we have entered and I wish these students the best of luck in this challenging event. School Disco The MPA have organised a school disco this Friday night. Notes with details have been sent home to all families. I would like to thank the members of the MPA for their efforts in organising this event and hope the evening is a great success. I would like to thank Jacinta Mulder for offering to be in attendance as a representative school staff member. Artist in Schools Program On Monday we began our Artist in Schools Program with grade 4, 5 and 6 making a visit to the Warrnambool Art Gallery with our artist in residence Becky Berger. We went there to view a painting of Tower Hill painted by Eugene von Guerard in 1855. We also stopped at Tower Hill to look at the inspiration for the painting at von Guerard’s Lookout and to see the similarities and changes. We all learned how von Gerard was a scientific painter who observed real detail and transferred this to his work. The Warrnambool Art Gallery took the painting out of storage for us for a special viewing and we were very impressed by the detail of the work which is now valued at about $2.5 million. Our program will continue on Thursday as Bec spends her first day in the school with us and we begin the exploration of our environment through art, including drawing, sculpture and multimedia. We will continue to put reports and pictures on the newsletter as the project develops.
