MacPherson jokes that before taking over the high- profile hosting job from Daryl Somers two years ago he was known to viewers as ‘‘that guy from Neighbours’’. ‘‘Since I started Dancing, people know I have a name. ‘‘Dancing has also made me more accessible. ‘‘People used to whisper behind my back; now people will come up for a chat. ‘‘ Ninety-nine per cent of people are really good.’’ MacPherson has just left City Homicide after two years in the popular drama. He says he felt it was time to move on and pursue a new challenge. He hopes to conquer Hollywood possibly working in action films or comedy and has recently returned from a trip to LA where he met casting agents and auditioned for roles in films such as The Green Lantern and the new Mad Max. MacPherson remains keen to divide his time between LA and Melbourne and he hopes to continue hosting Dancing With the Stars for at least one more season.
