3BOWOThe new upcoming Soundcloud producer collaborated with the world’s famous indie rock band Diminished Seven and gives insight of what’s it like to work with them. The two met during the MVA Awards and their new single is in post-production that could hit the top 40 music UK chart once it has been released by late August this year.

As their popularity increased, they were starting to doubt about whether to change their direction and definition of music, or not. “I guess that as we gained more positive responses for our individual tracks, it influenced us not to change ourselves because we assumed that they’re happy as we are and we are happy as well. So it’s a win-win situation. We finalised everything and we’re not going back to the drawing board; we’re happy.” - Estelle

However, they’re back to work again as they are now working on their full-length album which is in post-production. More and more people are listening to their music which is putting them under pressure, a new element in their experience. Back in September,

S tarting from bedroom recordings and basement jam sessions, they took the internet by a storm

overnight in November 22, 2015. “It’s insane that we just hit over seven million plays in Soundcloud with our single. We can’t get over how this happened overnight. We never imagined it this way.” says Johnny. The band initially started in September but this phenomenon happened four months after. Maybe it was too quick for Aimful Youth...

they felt no pressure whatsoever. Isabella confides, “We were really just mucking around and since it was our first time of being in a band and composing music, we made sh**** music then as we weren’t serious about this.”

Sometime in November they changed their minds and started to work as a unit and create authentic music. Johnny had a thought, “To be honest, we don’t know what made us change our mindset. I thought that we woke up saying let’s be serious about this. It was spontaneous really.” To them, that wasn’t much of a significance because they don’t regret changing their minds. Although they are happy as who they are now, they are trying to work as hard as they can to acoustically please their listeners’ ears. Also, they have been more organised in terms of composition, creating a logo for the band and tracklists etc. They are cooperating as a band now, “not just some crappy band made just for fun” because for them, they now know what it means to be recording artists.

Estelle, the drummer that makes us bop our heads, definitely want to bring the audience something that they have never seen before. This

involves stage lights, suitcases, equipment and a peculiar tracklist. She’s been picturing in her head of what the band could end up in the next few years or so. Estelle has been thinking ahead than the rest, “Yeah, I’ve been thinking about doing concerts in the future. “But I think we need some time to let this sink into our minds before taking action.”

Their music has been hugely recognised but also criticised. Aimful Youth’s keeping their heads up regardless of the criticisms. Johnny reiterates, “I know that when you’re a singer or a band or other, you need some form of constructive criticism so they can put it on board. Well, I don’t care and I strongly believe that we shouldn’t look into these things, especially from a person who doesn’t even listen to our music because they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. I will only get comments from our fans and not just from a random person who just came along and decided to criticise us.”

It’s been an interesting journey so far with Aimful Youth and they have their own strong opinions about how they will approach this rushed career in their life. If it wasn’t for social platforms, we wouldn’t be able to see this rare and raw talent.

“You need some form of constructive critcism...”
