PHOTOGRAPHY

SHOT TYPEOPTION 1- EXTREME LONG SHOT- ( slightly low angle)OPTION 2- MEDIUM SHOT- people in a rehearsal

MISE EN SCENESETTING- TheatreIn the background of the shot- a theatre with audience seats, in the foreground-a performer on the stage. (I have contacted a teacher at my school about our partnering theatre, The Old Rep and if I am able to have a photo-shoot- this email will be attached on my blog post.)ACTINGThe model in my shot would have very upright posture to make them seem confident and proud, they would be looking out to the audience as if dreaming and waiting to be able to perform on the stage.

COSTUME- FRONT COVER OPTION 1- Fur coat, suitcase as a prop, high heels (big stagey shot)This type of costume is part of the iconography within my genre as it is regularly used. This however my have an oppositional reading as the subject may be seen to be cocky, rich and obnoxious, this is not what I want to create.

OPTION 2- Jeans, shirt and flats (casual shot)The preferred reading of this would be to make the stage out to be their home, show them as relaxed and happy however the oppositional could be that they do not care for their job as they are in their ‘slobs’.

OPTION 3- Dance Kit (as if in rehearsals)Shows the profession, preferred reading- they are hard at work. Also links to the iconography.

LIGHTINGI hope to have a spotlight on my subject, that will be the key light on my photography, the house lights will be up slightly in the audience and a back light to show the subject.

GENRE CONVENTIONSTYPOGRAPHY-I plan to use the font stereotype within my genre which is the ‘lights’ font you can see on the right. I plan to use it on my front cover.

IMAGESI will conform the stereotypes within the musical theatre genre by using images of the theatre and performers in rehearsals- this will also be shown through the costumes.

COLOUR SCHEMEThe iconography of colour within my genre varies from the occasional black and white, dark colours for the more morbid shows and usually very bright colours for the eccentric clothes.

Within my magazine I intend on using a variety of these also as different colours will reflect the mood of the shows and music within the shows.

CONTENTAs there aren’t many magazines with the same genre a stereotype has not really been formed however my magazine will include stories you would expect to find if you bought a musical theatre magazine and these are stated on the next slide.

IN THE HEIGHTS PULLS IN AT KINGS CROSS AND TAKES TO LONDON BY STORMThis would be a review on In The Heights, that I recently saw. I loved it a lot and therefore feel I could write a good article on it and will contemplate using it for my DPS.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ARTS ED STUDENTI intend on using a story like this as my audience said they are interested in training or going to Vocational School, ‘A Day in the Life’ would give people an insight into what its like at Vocational School- this will be a story in my contents page.

TARGET AUDIENCE The demographics of my target audience vary. However all my audience have the psychographics of an interest in musical theatre and possibly a desire for a career in Musical Theatre. My magazine will be targeted at people around 15-25- teenagers and young adults, as from my questionnaire results, my audience are interested in going into training to be in musicals. Because of this I will use articles on training to appeal to my primary target audience- however the secondary audience can be of any age as anyone at any age can have an interest in musicals. My other articles therefore will appeal to my primary and secondary audience and will include reviews on musicals and the music used in musicals, musical awards, etc. I plan to target my primary target audience by including content on industry tips and a day at vocational school and the other audiences, by including articles on musicals.

By design, I plan to make a sophisticated magazine it will not include any juvenile san serif fonts and pastel girlie colours, instead I will use black, white , Burgundy and darker shades of colours so that is very stylish to appeal to an older audience and give my magazine a more sophisticated look. I can afford to make my magazine to a high quality as I am charging around £3. I can afford to charge this much as my audience said they would pay £2-£2.99 but because I have very little competition in Britain for my magazine.
